Analyzing the Penn State Depth Chart for the Ohio State Game

Penn State has released their depth chart for the Whiteout game versus Ohio State.
After a much needed off week, the Nittany Lions host Ohio State this Saturday night under the lights. It’s the annual White Out game and the crowd will be ready for this one. Let’s take a look at this week’s depth chart.
Due to Andrew Nelson’s injury, there has been some shuffling along the offensive line. Brendan Mahon moves over from left tackle to right tackle. Paris Palmer will now be starting at left tackle. If Palmer struggles, don’t be surprised if James Franklin turns to Will Fries even though he would have to burn his redshirt.
Another change along the offensive line is Steven Gonalez is listed as the backup at left guard behind Ryan Bates.

Over on defense, Curtis Cothran returns as one of the defensive tackle starters after he had to sit out the first half of the Maryland game due to a targeting penalty. At strong safety, Ayron Monroe makes his first appearance this year on the depth chart. He’ll be behind both Malik Golden and Nick Scott.
One thing noticeable is that both Brandon Bell and Jason Cabinda are not listed at any linebacker spot. It remains to be seen if they will return this week.
There are no changes at special teams this week. Let’s hope Blake Gillikin is healthy and ready to go.
