Abdullah's career day helps James Madison top Maine 31-20

ORONO, Maine (AP) Khalid Abdullah rushed for a career-high 172 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns and James Madison beat Maine 31-20 on Saturday in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams.

Abdullah started the scoring for the Dukes (3-1) with a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and added an 85-yard gallop in the third. Cardon Johnson added a 52-yard touchdown run in the fourth and finished with 110 yards on 13 carries.

Maine (0-3) led 20-17 at the end of the third quarter thanks to Darian Davis-Ray's 3-yard run, which culminated an eight-play, 75-yard drive. But JMU scored twice in the fourth, including Bryan Schor's 19-yard scoring strike to John Miller and Johnson's long carry.

Maine's Dan Collins was 13 of 22 for 238 yards, but threw three interceptions. Davis-Ray finished with 47 yards on 10 carries.
