Tickets Sold Out for Duke Basketball's First ACC Matchup

Virginia Tech announced that tickets for the Hokies’ New Year’s Eve conference opener against Duke Basketball sold out in one day.
The Blue Devils will open the conference basketball season on the road at Virginia Tech at noon on December 31st. The Hokies announced that tickets for the game have already sold out in anticipation of the huge matchup.
Duke Basketball’s matchup against Virginia Tech to start ACC play will be very interesting this year. The Blue Devils blew out VT last season in Cameron, but struggled the last time they were in Blacksburg needing overtime to win in 2015. The Hokies have greatly improved this season under head coach Buzz Williams, and are off to an 8-1 start. Their only loss so far is to Texas A&M in the Wooden Legacy tournament and they have also recorded an impressive win on the road at Michigan for the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Before the season, this matchup was predicted to be the first loss for the Blue Devils before injuries caused them to fall to Kansas.
This will also be Duke’s first conference game and first true road game of the season, with the UNLV game in Las Vegas technically at a neutral site location in the recently-opened T-Mobile arena. Coach K has mentioned that Duke is in “October Mode” as players get healthy, and the team will need to catch up quickly to everyone else is in December mode as conference play begins.
New Year’s Eve will kick off the ACC Basketball season this year, with Duke and Virginia Tech competing in the first conference game of the season. They will also be joined by Clemson at Wake Forest and North Carolina at Georgia Tech who also play December 31 at noon.
