Sam Houston State blows away to 87-65 win after halftime (Jan 19, 2017)

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Christopher Galbreath scored 20 points off the bench and grabbed eight rebounds as Sam Houston State blew open a tight game after halftime to run away from Lamar 87-65 on Thursday night.

John Dewey III scored 14 for the Bearkats (14-6, 5-2 Southland), who won a fifth straight conference game, with Aurimas Majauskas and Dakarai Henderson scoring 13 each.

Sam Houston State led 41-40 at the half, but Henderson kicked off the final period with a jump shot that sparked a 13-0 run over the next three minutes capped by a Dewey trey. Lamar (11-8, 3-3) didn't get under double digits again.

The Bearkats had 25 assists on 33 made baskets, Dewey leading with eight and Jovante Spivey six.

Josh Nzeakor was the only Lamar player to reach double figures with 11 points and added 10 rebounds. The Cardinals shot 42 percent from the floor and committed 18 turnovers.

Sam Houston shot 33 of 55 for 60 percent.
