Carlton Fay scored 33 points, including a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left, and Southern Illinois beat Illinois State 63-59 on Sunday.
Fay's fifth 3-pointer of the game put the Salukis (9-7, 3-2 Missouri Valley) ahead 61-59. He made a pair of free throws with 4 seconds left, completing a 20-point second half and an 8-for-8 performance at the free-throw line in the game.
Illinois State (8-8, 0-5) had taken the lead with 19 seconds left on Jackie Carmichael's basket. But Fay answered with his final 3-pointer, going 5 for 7 from long range in the game, which saw 15 lead changes.
Fay was the only Saluki in double figures.

Carmichael and John Wilkins led the Redbirds with 13 points.
