Rule change to help underclassmen get NBA evaluations

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 5:50 p.m. ET

SAN ANTONIO (AP) The NCAA has agreed to give college basketball underclassmen more flexibility to evaluate their NBA draft status without jeopardizing college eligibility.

Rule changes approved Wednesday at the NCAA convention will allow players to enter the draft multiple times and participate in the combine and one NBA team tryout per year.

Players also will be allowed up to 10 days to withdraw from the draft after the combine. A player invited to the combine will be allowed to work out with his college coaches from the time he receives his invitation until he withdraws from the draft.

The rule changes take effect immediately.
