Parham show lifts VMI over D-III Washington College 89-56

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — Bubba Parham scored 23 points and Greg Parham scored 11 points with 10 assists and no turnovers and VMI won its season opener against Washington College 89-56 on Tuesday night.

The Keydets were never threatened as they built an 11-0 lead with Bubba Parham scoring seven of the points. Later, he hit a jumper, then with 8:49 left before halftime, buried a 4-point play for a 22-4 lead. Rob Goyena's layin with 2:20 before the break finally put the Shoremen in double digits and they trailed 41-11. VMI took a 45-16 lead to halftime before Washington College scored 40 after the break.

The Keydets outrebounded the Shoremen 55-41 and outscored them 36-20 in the paint. Myles Lewis scored 13 points for VMI and Connor Arnold added 12.

Washington College, a Division III representative, got 12 points each from Tray Wright and Goyena.
