Louisville Basketball: Top performers from the first half against Purdue
We take a look at the top performers from the first half between the Louisville basketball team and Purdue on Wednesday night.
The Louisville basketball team has gotten off to a fast start tonight against the 15th ranked Purdue Boilermakers. Rick Pitino has to be happy with how well the Cardinals are playing defensively, but they do need to start turning those turnovers into points.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the top first half performers:
Ray Spalding:
Louisville needed their forwards to step up against the Boilermakers in this game. Purdue is very tall, but the Cardinals’ defense has been killing them so far. One of the biggest players in this first half was Ray Spalding.
Spalding currently has 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 block. The sophomore looked quick and aggressive in the first half, but Rick Pitino needs him to keep this performance up for the last 20 minutes.
This has easily been Spalding’s best half of the season.
Mangok Mathiang:
The fifth-year senior has looked terrific in the first half. He is tied with Spalding for rebounds with 6 and second on the team in points with 7. His leadership on the floor has been apparent, as he has let his play talk for itself so far tonight.
Even though the Cardinals are up by 14 at the half, they need to prove they can play a full 40 minutes against a good basketball team.
