Jamal Olasewere scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Long Island University to its eighth consecutive victory, 77-62 over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday night.

Jason Brickman added 17 points, getting 14 of them in the second half, and C.J. Garner had 16 for the Blackbirds (13-6, 7-0 Northeast Conference), who never trailed.

The win was LIU's second of the season against the Mountaineers (4-14, 2-5), whom they defeated 85-76 Dec. 3 in Emmitsburg, Md.

LIU led 39-24 at the half and stretched that to 22 points, 72-50, on a free throw by Olasewere with 4:41 remaining. That point gave the junior forward 1,000 points in his career.

The Blackbirds scored 24 points off 19 Mount St. Mary's turnovers while allowing 12 points off 13 of theirs.

Danny Thompson scored 20 points to pace the Mountaineers, and Josh Castellanos added 10.
