Eric Ferguson scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead a strong Georgia Southern shooting effort in an 87-64 victory over Webber International on Friday night.

The Eagles (1-2) shot 61.1 percent (33 of 54) against the Warriors of the NAIA, who counted the game as an exhibition.

Georgia Southern shot even better in the first half, making 19 of 26 (73.1 percent) but was unable to pull away from the Warriors, whose 51.9 percent shooting (14 of 27) included six 3-pointers to the Eagles' two.

Webber, which was led by Brian Pace's 16 points, held a 34-28 lead with 7:10 left in the half before a 17-8 Georgia Southern run made it 45-42 at halftime.

Webber's shooting dropped off to 25 percent (7 of 28) in the second half, enabling the Eagles to pull away.

Cleon Roberts added 13 points for the Eagles.
