Florida Gulf Coast dismantles SC-Upstate 85-56

FORT MEYERS, Fla. (AP) Zach Johnson and Christian Terrell each scored 18 points as Florida Gulf Coast posted an 85-56 win over South Carolina-Upstate on Saturday for the Eagles' sixth-straight win.

It's the second time in program history FGCU has started conference play 3-0 and was the largest margin of victory against SC-Upstate.

Johnson and Terrell shot a combined 12 for 20 from the field, and as a team Florida Gulf Coast (12-7, 3-0 Atlantic Sun) shot 30 for 56 (53.6 percent) and 13 for 21 (61.9 percent) beyond the arc.

Antravious Simmons and Julian DeBose each scored 10 points and both shot 4 for 6 from the field.

Malik Moore's basket gave SC-Upstate (7-13, 1-2) an early 8-4 lead. But after a timeout, Filip Cvjeticanin hit a 3 that sparked a 25-5 run that sent the Eagles on their way. Florida Gulf Coast led 41-17 at halftime.

The Spartans were led by Marvin Smith and Deion Holmes who each scored 12 points.
