Clemons scores 26 points, leads Campbell by Charlotte 76-70

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Chris Clemons made six 3-pointers and scored 26 points and Campbell won its fourth straight, beating Charlotte 76-70 on Wednesday night.

Campbell (5-2) never trailed and built a 13-point lead that Charlotte (1-8) cut to 37-34 by halftime. The Camels led by 10, 59-49, with 11:49 remaining.

Four times in the final 6:30 the 49ers came within one point, the final time on their final basket, a 3-pointer by Andrien White with 3:15 left. But Charlotte missed its last eight shots while Mason made two baskets and Shane Whitfield a free throw for Campbell.

Clemons, a freshman guard, has scored in double figures in all seven Campbell games. Mason added 16 points.

Braxton Ogbueze, who had five 3-pointers, led Charlotte with 24 points with Jon Davis adding 19.

Charlotte dropped its sixth straight. The 49ers had won the previous three games in the series, though the last matchup came in 1983.
