Bethune-Cookman 66, Longwood 62

C.J. Reed scored 21 points and Alexander Starling had a double-double to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 66-62 victory over Longwood on Friday at the South Padre Island Invitational. Starling augmented his 19 points with 11 rebounds to pace the Wildcats (2-3) to a 43-30 advantage on the boards. Albert Abrahams chipped in with 13 points for Bethune-Cookman. The Lancers (0-6) put four players in double figures but still remained winless. Antwan Carter led Longwood with 19 points and was followed by Dana Smith with 14, Kevin Swecker with 12 and Billy Robinson Jr. with 10. Swecker garnered all of his points on 3-pointers, and he sank one to tie the game 53-53 with 8:31 to play. But Starling responded with a layup 21 seconds later to put Bethune-Cookman ahead to stay.
