Avery Johnson could struggle in first year with Crimson Tide

Alabama basketball was looking to shed its label of being exclusively a football school. After firing Anthony Grant as head coach of the basketball team, Crimson Tide officials were looking to make a splash.

Insert Avery Johnson.

Johnson, 'The Little General,' who had success as an NBA player for the San Antonio Spurs and as a coach of the Dallas Mavericks, is a defensive tyrant who instills sound defensive principles into his players. However, Johnson has zero college coaching experience.

So how will Johnson's transition be? Well, as this article points out, Alabama could undergo some tough sledding in this year's SEC. The Tide are inexperienced, and frankly, lack a nucleus that can compete with the Kentucky and Florida types that they'll see frequently.
