Alabama A&M beats Jackson St. for 3rd win of the season (Mar 03, 2018)

NORMAL, Ala. (AP) Julian Walters had 15 points and a career-best 11 rebounds while dishing out six assists as Alabama A&M won its third game of the season, beating Jackson State 66-59 on Saturday night to end the year with a victory.

Alabama A&M (3-28, 3-15 Southwestern Athletic Conference) had lost 13 in a row and last tasted victory when the Bulldogs beat Mississippi Valley State in early January.

Andre Kennedy scored 14 points with eight rebounds and Marcus Merriweather had 13 points for Alabama A&M, which shot 51 percent (23-45) from the floor while limiting the Tigers to 25-of-73 shooting (34 percent).

Jackson State (12-19, 9-9) is currently in sixth place going into the SWAC Tournament set to begin in Houston on Tuesday.

The Tigers trailed throughout but made it interesting at the end when Jeremiah Bozeman drained a 3 and followed with two straight layups to close to 64-57 with 12 seconds remaining.

Maurice Rivers led Jackson State with 13 points. Bozeman and Treshawn Bolden added 12 points apiece.
