Back with San Jose Thompson signed with San Jose on a one-year contract with a club option for 2025.

Impact Thompson had his original contract option for 2024 declined but it appears he and the club quickly fixed that and got him back signed as homegrown player. The defensive midfielder barely played in 2023, but it seems his presence in the team and as a depth option were enough to earn him another contract.

Keeping bench option Thompson recorded one shot (zero on goal) in Sunday's 0-0 draw versus Portland Timbers. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 91st minute.

Impact Thompson has been just a bench option for the team thus far, recording just one start in 11 appearances, recording six clearances and five tackles (five won). Even with Carlos Akapo out on international duty, the midfielder has been overlooked as an option to replace him, dropping him even lower on the depth chart this season.

Impact Thompson played well on both sides of the ball on Saturday, and he's now started his first two games of the season in a row at right back. He'll likely return to the bench once Marcos Lopez returns from international duty, but Thompson is showing he is a capable backup option for San Jose.
