Steve Mounie - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Out for opener Mounie (undisclosed) is ruled out for Sunday's opener against Schalke, according to coach Manuel Baum. "Mounie and Breithaupt will be out for Sunday's game."

Impact Mounie returned to Augsburg after a loan spell at Alanyaspor that saw him mostly used off the bench, scoring three goals across 23 appearances, and his path back into the squad's plans remains uncertain given his contract runs through 2027. His absence from the opener is a step back after just returning from that loan.

Heads back to Augsburg Mounie will return to parent club FC Augsburg following the conclusion of his loan spell at Alanyaspor.

Impact Mounie is back at Augsburg following a loan at Alanyaspor that brought limited playing time, with the striker mostly used off the bench across 23 appearances, though he still found the net three times. Augsburg sent him to Turkey last summer after he struggled for a regular spot behind the club's other attacking options, and with his contract running through 2027, preseason will determine whether he fits into the club's plans or heads out again.

Struggles in bench role Mounie scored once in 16 appearances (one start) in the Bundesliga.

Impact Mounie joined Augsburg from Brest, where he had been consistently successful over four season. He failed to really carry that into the Bundesliga though, struggling for impact and producing just a single goal. Barring a plethora of injuries it's unlikely for Mounie to take on more minutes next season.

Scores first goal of season Mounie scored one goal to go with four shots (three on goal) in Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Holstein Kiel.

Impact Mounie was the only Augsburg player to score a goal Sunday, finding the back of the net in the 90th minute of the match for a consolation goal. This does mark his first goal of the season in 15 appearances. However, he only appeared off the bench for 27 minutes of play, still with only one start this season.

Finds bench spot Mounie (illness) is on the bench for Friday's match against Leipzig.

Impact Mounie has cleared the illness that has affected most of the club this week, returning to find a spot on the bench. The forward is merely a reserve for the team and has only started in one of his 11 appearances, likely to continue in a reserve role moving forward.

Doubtful for Leipzig Mounie (illness) missed Saturday's game against Mainz and is likely a late call for Friday's match against Leipzig, coach Jess Thorup said in a press conference. "He was also absen...

Impact Mounie missed Saturday's game due to illness and is doubtful for Friday's match against Leipzig. However, he has been limited to bench duties this season, playing only 32 minutes since early December, so his potential absence should not impact the starting squad.

Back with club Mounie is back with Augsburg and is an option for Friday's match against Mainz, according to manager Jess Thorup. "Steve is back- he became a father at the weekend."

Impact Mounie has returned to the club following the birth of his child, forcing him to miss their last match. He hasn't started in either match he has been available for this season and will likely only hold a rotational role, earning time off the bench Friday.

Out due to birth of child Mounie is not in the squad to face St. Pauli on Sunday following the birth of his first child.

Impact Mounie misses out on the match to be with his family, but should return next week against Mainz. The forward has yet to start a match since joining Augsburg.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Moves to Germany Mounie has agreed on a three year deal with Augsburg, leaving Brest after a four year spell.

Impact Mounie will play in Germany for the first time in his career after spending the last four years with Brest in Ligue 1. The forward scored a total of 30 goals in 125 appearances, logging in 273 shots (105 on target), 42 crosses (eight accurate), 53 tackles (29 won) and 90 clearances.
