Seeing consistent starts Posch has established himself as a regular starter at center-back this season.

Impact Posch has secured a consistent place in central defense, starting all three of his Bundesliga appearances. He has provided a solid defensive presence with seven tackles, four interceptions and eight clearances across those outings. His regular involvement should keep him firmly in the starting picture moving forward.

Signs permanent deal with Mainz Posch signed a permanent contract with Mainz after previously joining on loan from Como, the club announced.

Impact Posch was deployed as a central defender during his loan spell last season, though he's also capable of playing on the flank. Sporting director Niko Bungert praised his rapid integration and versatility, noting he had come to Mainz last winter hoping to boost his case for Austria's World Cup squad and immediately made an impact. Posch is expected to continue serving as a key defensive piece for Mainz as he begins the new deal.

AUGUST 12 • ROTOWIRE

Decent versus Spain despite big loss Posch had one shot (zero on target), two interceptions and three clearances and won two of three tackles in Thursday's 3-0 loss to Spain.

Impact Posch was the only Austrian defender not to completely flounder, even if his team conceded three goals, and put together a respectable stat line. He has notched at least one clearance in all four World Cup matches, totaling 11 and adding four tackles (two won), nine clearances and three shots (zero on target). He's heading back to Como following a loan spell at Mainz during which he had a regular role and contributed on both ends.

JULY 3 • ROTOWIRE

Limited impact defensively Posch recorded one cross (zero accurate) and three clearances in Saturday's 3-3 draw versus Algeria.

Impact Posch didn't have much impact in a game where Austria conceded three goals, as he offered little going forward and posted average numbers defensively. Posch could remain at right-back to face Spain in the Round of 32 on Thursday, but he's not likely to carry a ton of fantasy upside in a game where Austria are expected to be massive underdogs.

JUNE 28 • ROTOWIRE

Starts on Monday Posch had two crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Monday's 2-0 defeat against Argentina. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 40th minute.

Impact Posch covered over seven kilometers and also recorded a clearance. He was frequently forced into 2v1 and 3v1 battles as Argentina exploited the right side. He committed a penalty in the seventh minute following a 3v1 situation. Lionel Messi's opener in the 38th minute also came from a build up from the right side.

Gets start against Argentina Posch (jaw) is in the starting XI for Saturday's clash against Argentina.

Impact Posch overcame the fractured jaw sustained against Jordan to earn a starting role, with the custom-made protective mask providing sufficient protection for Austria's medical staff to clear him for the demanding fixture against Argentina. Impact Posch's increased involvement in training is an encouraging development following the fractured jaw he sustained against Jordan, with the custom-made mask providing the protection needed for him to work with his teammates. Austria's medical staff will continue to assess his readiness before making a final decision on his availability, but his progression in training is a positive sign heading into what promises to be a demanding fixture. Impact Posch's involvement in training, even in a limited capacity, is an encouraging sign following the fractured jaw he sustained against Jordan, though Austria's medical staff will need more time to determine his readiness for the next group stage clash. Konrad Laimer and Alexander Prass remain on standby at right-back should Posch be unable to feature against Argentina.

Impact Posch's diagnosis is more encouraging than initially feared after coach Ralf Rangnick had suggested a broken jaw could rule him out for the remainder of the tournament, and the absence of a surgical requirement gives Austria hope that their right-back could return sooner than expected. A specially designed mouthguard is being manufactured to support the healing process, leaving open the possibility of him featuring in the next group stage clash against Argentina. His availability for that fixture will depend on how quickly the mouthguard can be produced and how he responds to wearing it in training, with Konrad Laimer and Alexander Prass remaining on standby should he be unable to feature.

Impact Posch is set to undergo an X-ray on Wednesday to determine the exact nature and severity of the injury, with the results set to be decisive in establishing his availability for the remainder of the competition. The right-back's potential absence would be a significant blow for Austria heading into their next group stage clash against Argentina, with Konrad Laimer and Alexander Prass among the options to cover his position should he be unable to continue. The coaching staff will wait for the medical assessment before making any decisions on his involvement going forward.

Hectic night against Jordan Posch logged two shots (zero on goal), four clearances and three interceptions during Tuesday's 3-1 win against Jordan.

Impact Pushing for a starter role before the World Cup, Posch earned what he wanted, though not at center-back. The defender started at right-back, a role he held for Como but not with Mainz earlier this season. Posch suffered much growing pains offensively, with wild shots, an incidental case of head-to-head contact and a disallowed goal defining his effort. Nonetheless, he mostly made his opportunity work defensively. Against the Jordan team, Posch is Austria's only player to have logged both four-plus clearances and more than two interceptions.

Impact Posch ended the season having been a reliable presence at Mainz in the Bundesliga, contributing his characteristic defensive solidity and physical presence at right-back in a campaign that has kept him in manager Rangnick's regular international thinking. The right-back brings Bundesliga experience, the ability to press from the back and a competitive quality that has made him a consistent international presence, and his familiarity with the coaching staff's demands gives him a genuine opportunity if called upon. Posch heads into the World Cup ready to take his chance and demonstrate that he belongs among the starting options for Austria.

JUNE 5 • ROTOWIRE

Heads to Mainz Posch has been acquired by Como from Bologna and loaned to Mainz for the remainder of the season.

Not bought out by Atalanta Posch wasn't redeemed by Atalanta by the June 24 deadline, Tuttomercatoweb reported.

Impact Posch only played seven times (five starts) since transferring in January, as he missed months due to a thigh injury. Atalanta didn't activate their option to buy and would have to re-negotiate if they wanted him back. He's unlikely to stay at Bologna, where he had fallen out of favor.

JUNE 25, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Wins one tackle against Parma Posch committed one foul and had four tackles (one won) in 45 minutes in Sunday's 3-2 defeat versus Parma.

Impact Posch played the second half after sitting out more than two months due to a thigh strain and didn't look great, as Parma bagged three goals while he was on the pitch. He has struggled to leave his mark after joining on loan from Bologna in January, finishing up with four shots (three on target), 20 tackles, four interceptions and 13 clearances in seven appearances (five starts). The club will have to decide whether to pick up its option to buy.

Heads to Atalanta Posch has transferred to Atalanta on loan with a purchase option from Bologna, the two teams announced.

Impact Posch lost the starting job to Emil Holm a couple of months ago, and Bologna are also set to sign Davide Calabria from Milan. He has recorded 29 crosses (10 accurate), 54 tackles and 31 clearances in 20 matches (13 starts).

FEBRUARY 3, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Absent midweek Posch hasn't been selected for Wednesday's match versus Sporting CP as he's involved in a negotiation to leave the team, Gianluca DI Marzio reported.

JANUARY 28, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Subs in late versus Roma Posch (illness) had one touch in two minutes in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Roma.

Impact Posch returned from an illness, but Emil Holm has supplanted him as the starter at this point. However, he's likely to get more minutes thanks to the busier schedule. Lorenzo De Silvestri is also an option, though.
