Impact Bentancur missed the first nine matches of the season whilst recovering from an ACL tear he suffered in February of 2023. After a couple bench appearances, he started on Nov. 26 and was taken off in the 32nd minute with an ankle injury that cost him another six matches. After he recovered, he appeared in all of the remaining matches, playing the full 90 minutes just once. He currently appears to be the third choice in a two-man central midfield behind Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr, but if he can rediscover his pre-injury form, he could find himself back in the starting XI.
