Impact Steffen went unused more often than not during the 2021/22 season struggling for any sort of playing time. The midfielder ended the campaign with just 969 minutes played, while starting only once in the final three months of the season. Steffen entirely fell out of the starting XI and was even passed over for selection to the bench while healthy. Steffen has the off-season to try and mend his role with Wolfsburg but barring a surprising turn around his time as a consistent started with the Wolves seems over.
