Trains, fit for Sunday Portu (ankle) has trained and is an option for Sunday's match against Villarreal, according to his club.

Impact Portu is making his way back from ankle surgery Sunday, with the attacker training and on the squad list to face Villarreal. This is positive news for the attacker after missing their past nine matches due to his issues. He will likely only see a bench role moving forward, as he only started in one match ahead of his injury.

Underwent ankle surgery Portu had ankle surgery done back on October as he continues to sit out for Girona.

Impact Portu is still not expected to return as he continues to recover from ankle surgery. He had previously made seven appearances off the bench prior to his injury, totaling an assist with four tackles and two crosses.

Out vs. Real Sociedad Portu (ankle) is out for Saturday's match against Real Sociedad, manager Michel told media Friday. "Portu suffered an ankle injury on the day after the PSG game," he said.

Impact The loss of Portu is particularly complicated since Girona are also missing key contributors in the final third such as Bryan Gil (ankle), Yaser Asprilla (ankle) and Viktor Tsygankov (hamstring). Portu doesn't have a timetable for return, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to speed up his recovery to face Slovan Bratislava on Oct. 22.

Impact Portu notched his first assist of the season as he did a nice job going by Marc-Andre ter Stegen and then delivering the ball towards Christian Stuani, who then easily scored. The assist marked his first goal contribution of the season, after finishing the previous campaign with 12.

Impact Portu was the first option to replace one of the missing players in the final third, and he saw time as an attacking midfielder, as a winger on both flanks and even as a striker at times. His numbers are even more impressive when considering he went the full 90 just once all season long.

Impact Portu was back in the starting XI having dropped to the bench for the previous game. Impact Portu got back in the starting XI on Wednesday, though it was a rough showing from the attacker. He failed to put a shot on goal and failed to get on the scoresheet against lower league opposition. Portu has yet to make a start in La Liga.

Completes permanent Getafe move Portu has signed a three-year contract with Getafe after transferring on a full deal from Real Sociedad, the club announced Wednesday.

Impact Portu tallied 18 goals and 16 assists in 137 matches across all competitions during his three seasons with La Real before joining Getafe on-loan in 2022/23, where he recorded three assists while starting half of his 34 La Liga appearances at either wing/wing-back role. The 31-year-old has now completed a permanent transfer to the club following the expiration of his loan this summer.
