Out again
Sisniega is out for the time being with a lower back injury, per the MLS Player Status Report.
Impact
Sisniega's designation has been refined from a general lower-body listing to a lower-back issue, which is a more specific concern for a goalkeeper. However, he is a backup and depth option, so this shouldn't change much within the team. That said, once fit again, he is likely to only continue as a backup.

Makes five saves against Dallas
Sisniega made five saves and allowed three goals in Saturday's 3-3 draw against FC Dallas.
Impact
Sisniega endured a difficult night in a direct matchup with star striker Petar Musa, who beat him twice from open play and once via spot kick. It was the keeper's first league start in 2026, as he served suspension in the opening game and was then relegated to a backup role behind Duran Ferree. While it's still unclear if he'll be favored again in the future, there could be a rotation between different competitions if the team stays active in CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Back from suspension
Sisniega is no longer suspended and is an option moving forward for the club.
Impact
Sisniega has officially cleared his suspension following the red card he picked up in last season's conference final, and he's locked in to make his return in the next matchup. Expect him to take the gloves and run with the starting job while CJ Dos Santos works his way back to full fitness. Once Dos Santos is ready, it'll be a straight-up battle between the posts with the number one spot on the line.

Signs contract extension
Sisniega has signed a contract extension with San Diego FC until June 2027, the club announced Thursday.
Impact
Sisniega's option in his current deal was exercised for the 2026 season, but San Diego FC have decided to keep him around for longer. The new deal includes a club option for the 2027/28 season. Sisniega should battle with CJ Dos Santos for the starting role between the posts.

Sent off in conference final
Sisniega received a red card in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps.
Impact
Sisniega conceded three goals, including one where the ball bounced off him into the net, before being sent off for a last-man foul during the defeat. The keeper will be suspended in the opening week of the 2026 season, so he may not see action until the second game. He played the last few matches in the absence of CJ Dos Santos (concussion), who could regain the starting spot in the future. Sisniega finished the campaign with 21 saves, seven goals allowed and three clean sheets in eight appearances (seven starts).

Keep clean sheet
Sisniega registered three saves and secured a clean sheet in Monday's 1-0 victory against Minnesota United. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 94th minute.
Impact
Sisniega held a clean sheet and made three saves to help advance San Diego to the conference finals. With CJ Dos Santos still out on concussion, the keeper has been able to step up this playoffs, allowing just a goal in three playoff appearances, making eight saves with two clean sheets.

Excellent in relief
Sisniega had three saves and secured a clean sheet in Sunday's 4-0 victory over Portland Timbers.
Impact
Sisniega got the start with CJ Dos Santos (concussion) on the sideline Sunday, and he kept a clean sheet and booked a place in the next round. The goalkeeper was excellent in his limited action and did enough to keep San Diego's playoff hopes alive. With a break before the second round, Dos Santos could clear concussion protocols before a Nov. 24 clash with Minnesota.

Serves as backup keeper
Sisniega made two saves and allowed two goals in Saturday's 2-2 (5-4) penalty shootout defeat against Portland Timbers.
Impact
Sisniega would have to come on the field Saturday to serve in net after an injury to CJ Dos Santos, entering in the 29th minute and playing throhgh all of extra time and the penalty shootout. He would allow both goals in the game while making two saves. If CJ Dos Santos (head) is ruled out for game three of the series, Sisniega will be held to start in net again.

Bench option against Portland
Sisniega (head) is on the bench Sunday versus Portland Timbers.
Impact
Sisniega has been the second goalkeeper option behind CJ Dos Santos, so his return strengthens the squad's depth in case the starter is forced to leave the pitch or rested at some point. Prior to his injury, Sisniega played four MLS games in July, tallying 11 saves, three goals conceded and one clean sheet over that span.

Questionable with head injury
Sisniega (head) is questionable for Sunday's clash with Portland, per the MLS injury report.
Impact
Sisniega is questionable due to a head injury. As the backup goalkeeper his potential absence doesn't change much for the opening match of the playoffs. Sisniega remains firmly behind CJ Dos Santos on the depth chart even when fully fit.

Sisniega (lower body) is among the substitutes for Sunday's game versus Los Angeles FC.
Impact
Sisniega has recovered from an issue that forced him to miss the last three MLS matchups. He's back in contention with CJ Dos Santos and Duran Ferree but is not moving into a starting spot yet. The Mexican took part in four games before getting hurt, racking up 11 saves, three goals conceded and one clean sheet over that span.

Heading to sidelines
Sisniega is out for Sunday's match against San Jose, according to the MLS injury report
Impact
Sisniega missed last week's match and is once again out, as the goalie is suffering from a lower-body injury. This is a tough development for the goalie, as he had just earned four straight starts before the injury, after not appearing in any games all season. That said, CJ Dos Santos should continue in a starting role moving forward, as he has been their regular starter most of the season.
