Loaned to Chicago Doumbia has joined the Fire on a six-month loan with an option to buy as a Designated Player from Swiss side FC Lugano, the club announced Wednesday.

Impact Doumbia tallied two goals and two assists from 35 Swiss Super League appearances with Lugano last season, and he's now moving to MLS on-loan for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. The 31-year-old can play in either defensive midfield or central defense, two positions that have seen a bunch of injuries for Chicago this season. The earliest he's eligible to debut for the club will be after the transfer window opens on July 5.
