The 24-year-old might not be a preferred starter when everyone is healthy quite yet, but he will want to earn a spot in the XI heading into next year.

Scores in draw against Houston Burgess scored a goal off his lone shot and made one tackle (won), seven clearances, four interceptions and one block during Saturday's 2-2 draw against Houston.

Impact Burgess had another great performance at the heart of the defense, but this time his biggest contribution came on the offensive end. In the 54th minute, he was at the right place to send the ball home and even the score at one goal apiece after the opposing defense could only partially clear the ball on a corner-kick play. This was the first goal of the season for the centre back and he'll try to keep it up during Aug. 29 visit to Austin.
