Three interceptions off bench Mezquida logged three interceptions across nine minutes during a 2-0 win Saturday versus Portland.

Impact Mezquida logged the Rapids' best interception tally Saturday. However, he does not have more than 50 minutes of playing time across their nine league games this year.

Re-signs with Colorado Mezquida has signed a one-year contract with the Rapids with the option for an additional year, the club announced Friday.

Impact Mezquida's previous contract option had been declined when Colorado's roster decisions were released a few weeks ago, but the 30-year-old has re-signed a new deal with the club through 2022 at least. The majority of his 22 MLS appearances last season came off the bench, and it will likely be a similar story this campaign despite the departures of Cole Bassett and Kellyn Acosta from midfield in the offseason.

Impact Mezquida was great in some areas and lacked in others during the win Wednesday. The midfielder was in charge of the majority of set-pieces and outside of that he did not offer much in terms of offense. Granted, he did more than enough on the defensive side of the ball. Luckily, in overall terms this was his best performance so far this season. As long as teammate Jack Price is healthy though, Mezquida's value takes a hit.
