Emerges as starter in midfield
Acevedo kept five clean sheets in 34 MLS appearances (30 starts) mostly in defensive midfield this season for NYCFC.
Impact
Acevedo became a full time starter during his second full season in New York City, and the 23-year-old was a constant in midfield alongside either Maximiliano Moralez, Alfredo Morales or Keaton Parks. He even filled in at right-back for a few games in the spring.

Extends contract with New York City
Acevedo has signed a four-year contract extension with NYCFC, with the option for an additional year, the club announced Monday.
Impact
Acevedo was a regular in his side's lineup from May to July this year, but his usage tailed off a bit until he suffered a lower body injury on Sept. 30, his last appearance of the season. But the 22-year-old has signed on through 2025 at least and he will want to return fully fit next year and ready to challenge for a consistent spot in defensive midfield.

Makes bench Wednesday
Acevedo (undisclosed) is on the bench for Wednesday's match against Chicago.
Impact
Acevedo was forced off in the first half a few days ago, but he's healthy enough to make the bench, a good sign for his status going forward. In his place in the midfield Wednesday, Keaton Parks and Alfredo Morales are starting against the Fire.

Suffers injury in win
Acevedo suffered an injury that forced him off after 33 minutes of Friday's 4-1 win over Columbus. Alfredo Morales took his place on the pitch.
Impact
Acevedo doesn't have massive value with eight shots taken and 27 tackles made in 13 appearances, though he has started in six of the last seven games. Keaton Parks and Alfredo Morales are a potential partnership at defensive-midfield if Acevedo is unable to play in Wednesday's trip to Chicago.

Defensive in win
Acevedo made four tackles and interceptions during Wednesday's 1-0 win over Atlanta.
Impact
Acevedo didn't get much done going forward, though he did created two chances to add to his strong defensive numbers. The midfielder is a consistent performer, though this game seems to represent his ceiling for the most part. Next up for Acevedo is a Sunday clash against D.C. United.

Sent off against LA FC
Acevedo was sent off with his second yellow card in the 86th minute of Saturday's match against Los Angeles FC. He finished the match with one shot, two tackles won and three fouls...
Impact
Acevedo has been a regular starter for NYC FC over the past four games, but he'll miss their match against New England on June 19 because of the suspension, possibly allowing James Sands to move up from his center-back role. If Sands keeps his defender spot, Alfredo Morales could move into the starting XI in place of Acevedo, who will be eligible to play June 23 against Atlanta.
