Impact Saliba returns to Villarreal after a significant international workload, starting all three matches and playing the full 90 minutes against the United States. The midfielder had also started Villarreal's final two La Liga matches before the break and has totaled 296 minutes across four league appearances, indicating his growing role in midfield. However, the combination of his workload and travel from Minnesota leaves limited recovery time before Saturday's trip to Real Madrid, while Santi Comesana's return gives Villarreal another option in midfield and could result in Saliba being rested from the starting XI.
