Returns to club training Gregoritsch has returned to training with the squad ahead of the 2026-27 season following his World Cup campaign with Austria, the club posted.
Impact Gregoritsch made just three appearances for Austria at the World Cup, including two starts, with his tournament ending in the Round of 32 against Spain. He returns to Augsburg training on the back of a permanent transfer made official before the tournament, sealed after he scored six goals and added three assists in 17 appearances during a loan spell in the second half of last season, and he is set to lead the line for the German club.

Impact Gregoritsch arrived at Augsburg in January 2026 on a loan with a purchase option after a difficult spell at Brondby, and he made the move permanent by delivering immediately, scoring six goals and adding three assists in 17 appearances during the second half of last season. That form made him too valuable for Augsburg to let go.
JULY 4 • ROTOWIRE
Rendered ineffective versus Spain Gregoritsch registered two clearances and completed just one pass in Thursday's 3-0 loss against Spain.
Impact Gregoritsch tried to use his physicality in the passive phase and had just one opportunity to do some damage on the end, but he badly botched a header from a pretty good position. He has provided one assist and registered one off-target shot, two chances created and three clearances in three showings (two starts) during the competition.
JULY 3 • ROTOWIRE
Assists late equalizer Gregoritsch assisted once to go with zero corners and two chances created in Saturday's 3-3 draw against Algeria.
Impact Gregoritsch came off the bench and played a key role for Austria, as he set up the late-gasp equalizer netted by another sub, Sasa Kalajdzic. Gregoritsch has one start and two appearances in the World Cup but only one shot off target to show for it. With Marko Arnautovic likely to remain as the starting forward, Gregoritsch's upside should be fairly limited across all formats.
JUNE 28 • ROTOWIRE
Starts on Monday Gregoritsch recorded one shot (zero on goal) in Monday's 2-0 defeat versus Argentina.
Impact Gregoritsch took the place of Sasa Kalajdzic and recorded his first World Cup appearance. Gregoritsch operated as a physical focal point up front and battled effectively against Argentina's defenders, winning five of seven aerial duels. He managed only one shot and was replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka in the 85th minute. Gregoritsch also had the responsibility of initiating the press when Argentina passed backwards to their center backs.

Impact Gregoritsch contributed six goals and three assists across 17 Bundesliga appearances since returning to the club in January, taking his overall tally to 35 Bundesliga goals for Augsburg and leaving him just two shy of the club's all-time scoring record held by Alfred Finnbogason. Sporting director Benni Weber praised his leadership, professionalism and importance as a mentor figure for younger players, while Gregoritsch expressed his happiness at having his future resolved before the World Cup, describing his excitement at returning to Augsburg for the new season after the tournament with Austria.

Impact Gregoritsch spent the first half of the season at Brondby in the Danish Superliga before returning to former club Augsburg on loan in January, contributing six goals and three assists across 17 Bundesliga appearances since his midseason return in what has been a great campaign for him. The striker brings the physical presence, aerial threat and experienced finishing instinct that gives Austria a different attacking profile alongside Marko Arnautovic, and having previously scored 30 goals in 107 appearances for Freiburg, his quality at the top level of German football is well established. Gregoritsch heads into the World Cup knowing that Christoph Baumgartner's (thigh) absence has created a rare opportunity, and the tournament represents his best chance to define his legacy for the national team on the biggest stage of his career.

MAY 2 • ROTOWIRE
Clears illness Gregoritsch (illness) returned to full team training Tuesday and is available for Saturday's clash against Frankfurt, according to Augsburger Allgemeine.
Impact Gregoritsch had been ruled out of last weekend's victory over Leverkusen due to illness, but his swift return to the training pitch is exactly the kind of quick turnaround the club had been hoping for. The Austrian striker should regain his starting role against Frankfurt, with Rodrigo Ribeiro stepping back from the front line following his deputy stint in the Leverkusen fixture.
APRIL 21 • ROTOWIRE

Impact Gregoritsch's absence is an untimely blow for Augsburg heading into a tough fixture against the Werkself, with Rodrigo Ribeiro stepping into the starting role up front in his place. No timeline has been provided for his return, though illness-related absences are typically short-lived and the club will hope to have him back available next week against Frankfurt.

Impact With his side down 2-1 late, Gregoritsch subbed onto the pitch in the 81st minute to try to give his side a spark on the attack. He did just that as he tied the match in the 87th minute with a penalty before Elvis Rexhbecaj scored the winner six minutes later. The penalty attempt was the only shot Gregoritsch attempted in the match, but he made the most of his limited time on the pitch. He's now scored three goals across seven appearances (five starts) since joining Augsburg on loan in January.
FEBRUARY 22 • ROTOWIRE
Nets brace in win Gregoritsch scored two goals off five shots (three on target) during Saturday's 2-1 win over St. Pauli.
Impact Gregoritsch looked fully integrated despite just returning on loan after five years and played like he did during his first stint with the club, scoring once each half to lead his team to a come-from-behind victory. The brace should raise his fantasy stock, but his profile still carries some variance given Augsburg's inconsistent chance creation.

Impact Gregoritsch truly lost his starting role entirely this season, falling to the bench and playing just 632 minutes. The strikers minutes have trended down in recent seasons and new signings ended up with Gregoritsch's role dwindling to a minor bench one.

Assits in loss Gregoritsch delivered one assist to go with one shot (zero on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 5-1 loss against Leverkusen.
Impact Gregoritsch had a tough outing as a striker, with Leverkusen dominating possession and limiting Freiburg's attacking opportunities. Despite the challenges, he provided a key assist to Vincenzo Grifo in the 55th minute, setting up Freiburg's only goal. This was Gregoritsch's first assist of the season and follows his recent goal against Wolfsburg. Having started the last four matches, the Austrian appears to be solidifying his place in the lineup after a challenging start to the season.

Impact Gregoritsch hasn't seen much playing time this season but got 71 minutes Saturday. He made the most of his opportunity outside of putting a ball in the back of the net.
