Impact Marcelo has only started twice in 2021 but was handed the chance to play with Ferland Mendy serving as a center-back and with Vinicius Junior uncomfortable out of position as a wing-back. If manager Zinedine Zidane sticks with a similar formation against Liverpool, Marcelo will hope start a second straight match for just the second time all season and provide more experience for an important game.

Impact Marcelo has moved to a bench role this season and while healthy, the minutes aren't there for him. Still a dynamic option going forward, his lack of defensive work is the main reason he's being left out and it's likely he'll move elsewhere in the offseason.

Against a better counter-attacking side like Valencia, the Brazilian may be sent back to the bench in favor of the more consistent Ferland Mendy.
