Lucas Chevalier - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Holds backup role Chevalier has remained on the bench for PSG's first five Ligue 1 matches, with Matvey Safonov remaining the undisputed starter in goal ahead of him.

Impact Chevalier has yet to play a competitive minute this season, leaving him without a league appearance through five rounds. Chevalier recorded 17 Ligue 1 appearances in 2025/26 before losing his starter role at PSG and also his place in the French national team. His minutes are unlikely to evolve positively in the coming months if Safonov remains healthy and available.

Returns to bench Chevalier (thigh) is on the bench for Saturday's Champions League final against Arsenal.

Impact Chevalier has been included in the squad after progressing to full collective training sessions this week following the thigh issue that had limited him to individual work in recent weeks, earning a place among the substitutes for the biggest game of PSG's season. The goalkeeper had lost his starting role to Matvey Safonov during the campaign and was also left out of France's World Cup squad, making his return to the matchday squad a small but welcome positive note in what has been a difficult end to the season on a personal level.

Likely back for final Chevalier (thigh) returned to full team training Tuesday and will likely be an option for Saturday's Champions League final against Arsenal, the club posted.

Impact Chevalier had been limited to individual training sessions in recent weeks after a thigh issue kept him out of the final league fixtures, but his progression to full collective sessions is an encouraging development heading into the biggest game of PSG's season. The goalkeeper had lost his starting role to Matvey Safonov during the campaign and was also left out of France's World Cup squad, making his return to fitness a small positive note in what has been a difficult end to the season on a personal level. The club will make a final call on his involvement for the Budapest showpiece after assessing how he responds to the remaining sessions before kickoff.

Trains individually at Campus PSG Chevalier (thigh) has returned to individual training but remains unavailable for Sunday's season finale against Paris FC, according to the club.

Impact Chevalier ends what has been a deeply difficult season on a sour note, having been left out of manager Didier Deschamps' France squad for the World Cup in addition to his ongoing thigh injury. The goalkeeper had lost his starting role to Matvey Safonov during the campaign and his absence from the French squad for the tournament is another significant blow for a player who arrived at PSG with high expectations. Renato Marin continues to serve as backup while Chevalier works through his rehabilitation ahead of the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30.

Suffers thigh injury Chevalier is out for the "next few weeks" due to a thigh injury, according to his club.

Impact Chevalier is seeing a rough development to close the season, as the goalie will now miss time due to a thigh injury. The once starter who is now a backup will likely need two to three weeks to recover, leaving Renato Marin to serve as backup behind Matvey Safanov for the time being. A return should still come this season, likely near mid-May for the keeper.

No longer starting keeper Chevalier has been dropped from the starting role and has not seen the field since Jan. 23.

Impact Chevalier made a major move this summer to sign with PSG after they let Gianluigi Donnarumma leave, but it has not gone so seamlessly, instead being dropped from a starting role. The goalie has not started since the end of January as the club appears to prefer Matvey Safonov, a rough realization for the French keeper. It is yet to be seen if he will earn the starting role back, especially as he tries to earn a keeper spot on the French World Cup roster, still recording nine clean sheets in the 17 league appearances he made this season.

Cleansheet in win Chevalier recorded no saves and allowed zero goals in Friday's 1-0 win against AJ Auxerre.

Impact Chevalier had a relatively easy match, facing no shots as the defense in front of him remained organized and secure. Across 17 league matches this season, he has faced just 41 shots but has still posted a solid 71.3 percent save rate, which sits above average for Ligue 1 goalkeepers. In that span, he has conceded only 13 goals and recorded nine clean sheets, showing strong individual performance along with consistent defensive support. Chevalier will next face Strasbourg, who sit seventh in the table, making it a more challenging matchup, but he continues to play at a high level.

Two saves in loss Chevalier made two saves and allowed two goals in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat versus Sporting CP.

Impact Chevalier made two saves but conceded twice in Wednesday's 2-1 loss against Sporting CP, extending his run to five consecutive Champions League matches without a clean sheet. The goalkeeper has continued to struggle in European competition and was not convincing on the goals conceded, as reflected by the 10 goals allowed across his last five Champions League appearances. He will look to bounce back in league play against Auxerre on Friday.

Keeps clean sheet in victory Chevalier recorded four saves and secured a clean sheet in Friday's 3-0 victory over Lille.

Impact Chevalier survived a huge second minute let off when Olivier Giroud's chip struck the bar, before going on to have a quiet night while making four saves to keep the clean sheet. PSG's backline limited clear looks for long stretches, allowing him to manage the game with calm positioning and controlled distribution. This marked Chevalier's eighth clean sheet in 16 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, maintaining a 50 percent success rate. Chevalier will look to carry that momentum into upcoming matches against Sporting CP on Tuesday in the Champions League and Auxerre on Friday in league play.

Two saves against Paris FC Chevalier made two saves and allowed one goal in Sunday's 2-1 victory versus Paris FC.

Impact Chevalier started and made two saves while conceding one goal in Sunday's match against Paris FC. The goalkeeper returned after missing his team's previous four matches due to an ankle injury and Matvey Safonov's strong form, which had cast some doubt over the No. 1 spot under coach Luis Enrique. However, the Russian's injury in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final has allowed Chevalier to reclaim his starting role. The Frenchman will look to make a strong impression against his former club Lille on Jan. 16.

Option but not starting Chevalier (ankle) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Metz.

Impact Chevalier is available and an option for the club after an ankle injury, an option from the bench Saturday. He is typically their starter in net, so he will likely return to that spot next outing, not being risked ahead of the winter break.

Available against Metz Chevalier (calf) is back available for Saturday's clash against Metz since he doesn't feature in the injury report, the club announced.

Impact Chevalier seems to have fully recovered from the severe ankle injury he suffered against Monaco since he doesn't feature in the injury report, suggesting that he is back available for Saturday's clash against Metz. Chevalier has been the undisputed starter since the beginning of the season in goal, although the brillant performances of Matvey Safonov during his absence can create a small doubt on who will start in goal against the Grenats.
