GAME LOG

Finally logs start, attempts shot Bergvall attempted a shot across 66 minutes during Sweden's 3-0 loss to France on Tuesday.
Impact For most of the World Cup's group stage, Sweden's central-midfield pairing included Benjamin Nygren instead of Bergvall. After the former struggled between games, he was replaced by Victor Lindelof, who switched positions from center-back. But with defender Isak Hien (thigh) out against France, Lindelof reverted to CB on Tuesday, and Bergvall logged a start alongside Yasin Ayari. But offensively, Bergvall's lone stat was a shot, only his second. Besfort Zeneli replaced Bergvall, and with Sweden's knockout-stage loss, that means his best and only contribution was an assist against Tunisia.

Subs on after transfer speculation Bergvall had two crosses (zero accurate) and one chance created in Thursday's 1-1 draw versus Japan.
Impact Bergvall came on as a substitute for the third World Cup game in a row and made his longest appearance of 53 minutes. This helped Sweden earn a 1-1 draw with Japan, which may be enough to earn them progression to the next round, but they will need to wait on other results. He took two crosses in the game, more than in any other match in the tournament. He drew two fouls, but also conceded two fouls.

Sets up teammate against Tunisia Bergvall assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in 25 minutes in Sunday's 5-1 win against Tunisia.
Impact Bergvall was deployed as a sub in the World Cup opener, picking up a small amount of stats across the board on offense and feeding Yasin Ayari with a routine pass before his teammate found the target with a cannon shot from long range. He'll attempt to push primarily Benjamin Nygren for minutes in the next few contests. He tallied one goal and three assists in 30 games (16 starts) with Tottenham in the past campaign.

Assists Saturday Bergvall assisted once to go with zero corners and one chance created in Saturday's 2-2 draw versus Brighton.
Impact Bergvall subbed onto the pitch in the 76th minute for Conor Gallagher and just a minute later assisted Xavi Simons' goal which took the 2-1 lead. It was the only chance he created in the match and it marked his third assist of the season, his first since Nov. 29.

Building fitness off bench Bergvall featured off the bench in each of his last four appearances across all competitions, including two outings with Sweden against Ukraine and Poland.
Impact Bergvall is clearly past the ankle injury that had sidelined him, but he still has some ground to make up before regaining his full match sharpness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. That said, with injuries piling up at Hotspur Way and new coach Roberto de Zerbi joining, the door is open for the Swede to work his way back into the starting lineup he occupied earlier in the season. Bergvall has contributed one goal and two assists across 18 Premier League appearances this campaign, and Spurs will need him firing on all cylinders as they push to steer clear of relegation down the stretch.

Pictured in team training Bergvall (ankle) was spotted back on the training pitch with the team Tuesday, according to Matt Verri from The Standard.
Impact Bergvall missed around two months of action with an ankle injury but took a clear step forward Tuesday after being spotted back in team training with the squad. That is a big boost for Spurs, as he had locked down a regular starting role before the setback, though it remains unclear how new coach Igor Tudor plans to use him moving forward. He will likely need a few more sessions to get up to speed, making Wednesday's second leg clash against Atletico in the Champions League come too soon for the midfielder.

Undergoes ankle surgery Bergvall (ankle) underwent surgery Friday and will be out for the foreseeable future.
Impact The 19-year-old suffered a high ankle sprain in Tuesday's win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League and will begin rehabilitation with the club's medical staff. Bergvall is expected to miss between two to three months, meaning the door is still open for him to return to action before the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Impact Bergvall is still facing a longer absence due to his ankle injury, currently looking at around two to three months out. However, he is scheduled for further assessment, which should hopefully clarify some of the concerns and provide a clearer date for his return. The hope will be that they can shorten up his return date a bit, already without numerous other midfield options.

Set to miss two to three months Bergvall (ankle) is set to miss two to three months due to his injury, according to Fotbollskanalen.
Impact Bergvall suffered a significant ankle injury during Tuesday's win against Dortmund in the Champions League and will likely be sidelined between two to three months to recover. This is a blow for the Spurs since they will miss an option in the midfield, although Conor Gallagher is already set for a larger role in the heart of the game and the young Jun'ai Byfield to see increased playing time while Bergvall is sidelined.

Limps off Tuesday Bergvall was forced to leave the field with an ankle issue during Tuesday's UCL match against Borussia Dortmund, George Sessions of PA Sport reports.
Impact Bergvall made a rare start in holding midfield but was unable to continue after 62 minutes of play. The youngster is now a doubt for upcoming contests, with the severity of his injury still unclear. His absence would be a blow to the team's depth, although Conor Gallagher should return to the lineup in his place for Premier League action.

Makes bench Saturday Bergvall (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's clash against West Ham United.
Impact Bergvall is named on the bench for Saturday's contest against West Ham United after missing the FA Cup match against Aston Villa on Jan. 10. While he does not return directly to the starting XI, he is fit enough to be involved on matchday and could play some minutes depending on how the match unfolds.

Impact Bergvall didn't play against Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Jan. 10, but there's a realistic chance that the midfielder will be available for this Premier League contest. Bergvall has alternated between the starting lineup and the bench this season, so at the very least, he'll add depth in midfield for the Spurs once he's deemed fit to return to action.

Impact Bergvall had to be taken off the field after halftime of Wednesday's win over Bournemouth and the club is now concerned of an injury that is forcing him into further assessment. This will leave him questionable for Saturday's match, probably needing to pass a fitness test to be an option. With the midfielder starting last time out, his absence would force a change, with Xaxi Simons likely moving into his role while Wilson Odobert returns to the starting XI.
