Signs with Fiorentina Lezzerini has inked a one-year contract with an option with Fiorentina.

Impact Lezzerini spent the last few years in Serie B, manning the sticks for Avellino, Venezia and Brescia. He last played in the top flight in 2021, starting on six occasions, allowing nine goals and making 30 saves, with no clean sheets. He's back at the team where he began his career and will serve either as the second or third stringer behind David de Gea following the departure of Pietro Terracciano.

Suffers major injury Lezzerini will undergo surgery in Finland for a complete rupture of the rectus femoris tendon in the right thigh, Venezia announced.

Impact Lezzerini picked up the injury in the last game even though he managed to finish it. He is considered unlikely to return to this season. Sergio Romero should head back to Italy before Sunday's game versus Genoa and resume starting. He sat out the most recent game as he flew to Argentina for the birth of his child. Niki Maenpaa will serve as the top backup from here on out.
