Kristoffer Ajer - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Posts eight clearances in victory Ajer recorded one tackle (zero won), eight clearances and three interceptions in Saturday's 2-0 victory versus Nottingham Forest.

Impact Ajer played well in his usual defensive role as his side navigated through a favorable contest despite lacking possession this time. He has been a fixture in the middle of the back line, playing every minute of the Premier League campaign so far. His 7.0 clearances and 1.7 interceptions per game rank first and second, respectively, among the squad's regular starters. The clean sheet was the third in nine appearances for the Norwegian, and the busy defensive afternoon fits the profile of numbers he has put up all season.

Creates rare chance Ajer had one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 loss versus Liverpool.

Impact Ajer created a chance from center-back during Saturday's rout. That's a surprise in general, the fact he did it in a match with two people sent off is even moreso. Ajer is a strong defender but he doesn't generally offer much going forward, so most of his upside comes from the volume he can accrue behind the ball.

OCTOBER 19 • ROTOWIRE

Scores equalizer vs. Villa Ajer scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 2-2 draw versus Aston Villa. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 84th minute.

Impact Despite playing as a center-back, Ajer broke the lines from his own half and found himself inside the box, slotting a shot into Zion Suzuki's near post to even things up for the Bees. This was Ajer's first goal of the Premier League campaign, but don't expect the Norwegian defender to be a regular scorer for the Bees. He has far more value from a defensive standpoint, as evidenced by his average of 7.0 clearances per game in the current campaign.

OCTOBER 10 • ROTOWIRE

Scores in Nations League loss Ajer scored a goal during Sunday's 2-1 loss to Portugal in Nations League play.

Impact Ajer stood out with a quality right-footed finish in a set-piece situation to give Norway the lead against Portugal. Any goal is a notable bonus for Ajer, whose primary fantasy value typically comes from defensive work and regular minutes at center-back, which he also got in the recent international match, tallying six clearances and two ball recoveries. He should continue to play a key role in Brentford's defense as he looks to extend a strong run of defensive contributions, although he has yet to score or assist in club competitions this season.

OCTOBER 4 • ROTOWIRE

Logs consecutive full matches Ajer played the full 90 minutes in both of Norway's Nations League matches against Denmark and Portugal during the international window.

Impact Ajer received a substantial workload for Norway, completing both matches as he continued his regular involvement at international level. The center-back has also been a consistent starter for Brentford this season, recording four tackles, seven interceptions and 37 clearances across five Premier League appearances. His heavy defensive production and regular starting role should keep him firmly established in Brentford's back line following the break.

SEPTEMBER 28 • ROTOWIRE

Keeps clean sheet Friday Ajer generated six clearances and three interceptions in Friday's 3-0 win against Chelsea.

Impact Ajer kept his second clean sheet of the season Friday as he and the defense held Chelsea to just two shots on target. Ajer made six clearances and three interceptions on the defensive end. He also created one chance on the attack, his third of the season, as he played the full 90 minutes in his fifth consecutive match.

SEPTEMBER 19 • ROTOWIRE

Adds four clearances Ajer had four clearancesand one interception in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Sunderland.

Impact Ajer delivered another steady performance at the heart of Brentford's defense, recording four clearances Saturday and reaching 25 clearances across his first three Premier League appearances. That consistent defensive volume highlights how important his aerial presence and ability to deal with danger inside the box have been early in the campaign. The center-back remains a reliable and established presence in Brentford's defensive setup.

SEPTEMBER 6 • ROTOWIRE

15 clearances in draw Ajer had 15 clearances in Sunday's 1-1 draw versus Leeds United. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 74th minute.

Impact Ajer was Brentford's most active defender in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Leeds, making an extraordinary 15 clearances across 90 minutes as the Norwegian center-back repeatedly put his body on the line to prevent Leeds' second-half aerial pressure from breaking down Brentford's defensive structure. He won zero tackles on the night but his positioning and reading of the game kept Leeds to minimal clear-cut opportunities from open play before Dominic Calvert-Lewin's late tap-in arrived from a cross rather than any structural breakdown. Ajer has now made 21 clearances across Brentford's opening two Premier League matches, the most of any outfield player in the division over that span.

AUGUST 31 • ROTOWIRE

Set for new season Ajer is set for the new season with Brentford after returning from the post World Cup break, according to the club.

Impact Ajer surpassed 100 Premier League appearances last season, playing 27 times in the league with one assist, and recently signed a contract extension through 2030. He capped the campaign with a strong World Cup run for Norway, leading the team in clearances during the loss to England while averaging 51.6 accurate passes per game across the tournament, and his return to club training now shifts focus to preseason preparations heading into the new 2026/27 Premier League season.

AUGUST 3 • ROTOWIRE

Defensive effort in knockout defeat Ajer registered one shot (zero on goal) in Saturday's 2-1 defeat against England. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 117th minute.

Impact Ajer led his squad with five clearances during an otherwise disappointing end to his World Cup campaign. The central defender stood out as a regular starter, resting only when the entire lineup was rotated in the third group-stage match. In addition to his consistent numbers of 51.6 accurate passes per game, his aerial strength allowed him to rack up at least five clearances in each of his five matches played.

JULY 11 • ROTOWIRE

Active in win over Brazil Ajer recorded one tackle (one won), five clearances and one interception in Sunday's 2-1 win versus Brazil.

Impact Ajer was heavily involved in passing play, helping his side dominate possession against tough opposition in the second knockout round of the 2026 World Cup. While the five clearances were his lowest count in his four matches played so far, he remains the team's leader with an average of 8.0 clearances per contest. He'll aim to contribute through his usual passes and defensive stats in future clashes.

JULY 5 • ROTOWIRE

Busy defensively Ajer recorded three tackles (two won) and 13 clearances in Tuesday's 2-1 victory versus Cote D'ivoire.

Impact Ajer had everything to do defensively throughout Tuesday's win. The defender was busy throughout the match and recorded a match-high 13 clearances. He's always an active part of the defense and with the style Norway play, where they invite pressure at times, he has the chance to tally some impressive contributions.

JUNE 30 • ROTOWIRE

Puts up decent numbers versus Senegal Ajer won two of two tackles and had six clearances, one interception and one block in Monday's 3-2 victory versus Senegal.

Impact Ajer racked up clearances for the second tilt in a row, but the Norway defense was wobbly in the second half and gave up two avoidable goals, and he wasn't great in those instances. He almost scored early thanks to a header. He has tallied at least six clearances, amassing 14, one tackle, totaling three (two won), one interception and one block in the first two matches.

JUNE 23 • ROTOWIRE

Solid defensively in win Ajer had one cross (one accurate) and one tackle in Tuesday's 4-1 victory versus Iraq.

Impact Ajer put in a strong defensive display against an Iraqi side that proved dangerous at times, leading the team in clearances with eight while adding one interception, one tackle and one blocked shot. The center back also had a hand in the fourth goal, with his only cross of the night finding Erling Haaland, whose header forced the own goal.

JUNE 17 • ROTOWIRE

Representing Norway Ajer is expected to be a starting defender for Norway at the 2026 World Cup.

Impact Ajer is heading to the World Cup with Norway and is set for a prominent role in the defense, likely as a starting center-back. He will be partnered up with Torbjorn Heggem, and they will have a tall task in the group stages, having to face Senegal and France. That said, the defensive record could be rough through the group stages, although with a powerful attack, they could score enough to advance. He will still need to be at his best if they want to qualify, recording four clean sheets in his 20 starts (27 appearances) with Brentford during the league season.

Impact Ajer looks to be on the verge of making the team Sunday after he was taken off the field early in their last outing, having already avoided a major injury. The hope will be that he is an option to play, and potentially start immediately, as he has started in six of their past seven games. He will likely face some late testing to decide if he can play, with Sepp van den Berg likely to earn the start if Ajer cannot.

JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE

Forced off injured Ajer was forced off in the 37th minute of Sunday's match against Nottingham Forest due to an apparent injury.

Impact Ajer was one of two players to leave in the first half for the Bees, with the defender having to exit due to an injury. This will be something for the club to monitor moving forward, starting in 13 of his 17 appearances, and a typical starter as of late. That said, he was replaced by Sepp van den Berg, who will return to a starting role if Ajer misses further time.

JANUARY 23 • BEINSPORTS.COM

Signs contract extension Ajer has signed a contract extension with Brentford until the end of the 2029/30 season, the club announced Thursday.

Impact Ajer has started in 12 of his 16 appearances with Brentford in the current Premier League campaign, and the defender should remain a regular at the back as long as he stays fit. Ajer has been with the Bees since the 2021/22 campaign and is on pace to record 20-plus appearances for the fourth time in that stretch of five seasons.

Plays 90 with Norway Ajer (back) started and played 90 minutes in Thursday's 4-1 win over Estonia, according to his club.

Impact Ajer was back in the fold during the break, as the defender took the field not with his club but with his international team, starting in a World Cup qualifier with Norway. He would play the full 90, not leaving the field the entire 90 despite his recent back injury. That said, he appears to have recovered from the injury and is ready for play after, set to resume action with Brentford on Nov. 22 when they face Brighton.
