GAME LOG

Set for MRI O'Toole suffered a pulled hamstring and was forced to sub out in the 39th minute in Friday's 5-1 win against San Jose Earthquakes. Per the Blue Balls Podcast, he is set for an MRI...
Impact It does not look good for O'Toole, who had pulled his hamstring in a non-contact play against San Jose. He was able to start all but one match for the team, scoring once while averaging about two crosses and 2.2 clearances per game. If his injury turns out to be serious, then Mitja Ilenic is set to join Tayvon Gray as the outside backs until he recovers. The good news is with the international break, NYCFC's next contest is not until June 14 against Columbus, giving him an extra week to recover.
JUNE 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Starts despite concerns O'Toole (head) is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against Atlanta.
Impact O'Toole is back with the team despite being in concussion protocol ahead of the contest, immediately being introduced into the starting XI after missing no time with the issues. He should be expected to remain getting the start, as he has started in all but one of his six appearances this campaign.
APRIL 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Remains in concussion protocol O'Toole is still in concussion protocol and is not expected to be an option for Saturday's trip to NYCFC, per the Hudson River Blue.
Impact O'Toole has had a great start to the season, scoring once while averaging about two crosses and tackles per match. This could see Tayvon Gray get a start at outside back, or Nick Cushing could decide to keep the 3-4-3 formation, with Thiago Martins, Mitja Ilenic and Birk Risa at center back. Though, Strahinja Tanasijevic is also an option to start if Risa is ruled out with a foot injury.
MARCH 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up injury Saturday O'Toole left Saturday's 1-0 loss against Cincinnati with a head injury and will be evaluated for a possible concussion, Scott Churchson of Stream Punk Entertainment reports.
Impact O'Toole departed the game during the second half, and his eye was swollen shortly after the game ended, so the early signs were not encouraging. Furthermore, NYCFC doesn't have another natural left-back in the squad, and their other left-footed center-back, Birk Risa (lower leg), also departed Saturday's contest with an injury, meaning the coaching staff will have to get creative in case O'Toole is forced to miss Saturday's game against Inter Miami.
MARCH 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Scores first MLS goal O'Toole scored one goal to go with two shots (one on target) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 win versus Toronto FC.
Impact O'Toole recorded the game-winning goal Saturday, while also having it be his first MLS goal in his carer. He has become one of the best players on the team during the first four games, totaling 10 clearances, nine crosses (zero accurate), eight tackles (five won) and eight interceptions.
MARCH 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Signs through 2025 O'Toole agreed to an extension with NYC FC through 2025, the club announced.
Impact O'Toole had a strong 2023 and has earned a deal through 2025, with an extra option for 2026. The defender took over from Braian Cufre in September and never looked back to close the season. With a new deal in hand O'Toole is the favorite for the job in 2024 as well.
DECEMBER 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Impressive to end season O'Toole will end the 2023 season making 12 starts in 21 appearances with New York City F.C.
Impact O'Toole had won the starting left back role over Braian Cufre in September, starting the last five matches of the season. Overall, the defender had logged in 28 clearances, 22 tackles (14 won) and 11 chances created on the year. He will play in his last season of his contract as his future beyond that is yet to be determined.
NOVEMBER 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Started Wednesday O'Toole registered two crosses (zero accurate) and two tackles in Wednesday's 2-0 win versus Orlando City SC.
Impact With a weekday match, O'Toole got the call to start to give Braian Cufre a rest day. It was his first league match since July 15, having been an unused sub his previous five games.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to bench role O'Toole generated one tackle (one won) and one interception in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Columbus Crew.
Impact O'Toole returns to his bench role after starting four matches at left back earlier in the season. With Braian Cufre in better form, he is the current favorite to start over him, where he's generated 11 clearances and 10 tackles (seven won) in 11 appearances.
JUNE 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
First start of season O'Toole had three crosses (two accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 1-0 defeat versus Toronto FC.
Impact O'Toole got his first start of the season with Braian Cufre getting the day off. He played all 90 minutes while totaling three crosses and three tackles. He is still the backup to Cufre and is not expected to get many starts unless needed. Since making his senior debut last season, the defender has totaled seven starts with 10 appearances while recording 25 crosses (seven accurate) and 13 tackles (seven won) thus far.
APRIL 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Ends rookie season as starter O'Toole started NYCFC's final six matches of the season, taking four shots (two on target) and creating six chances from the left wing.
Impact O'Toole only made his MLS debut in mid-September in his rookie season out of Princeton University, but the 24-year-old immediately became the starter on the left wing for the rest of the campaign. He will want to maintain that role ahead of the likes of Thiago in 2023.
