Recovers from surgery Trewin underwent successful surgery on his right ankle this past Monday and has begun his rehab, according to the club.

Impact Trewin has made 18 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing two assists and scoring his first goal for the club in the U.S. Open Cup, and the surgery comes after he helped Australia reach the round of 32 at the World Cup. He has been a regular presence in both the back line and midfield of NYCFC this season, therefore his absence will allow Keaton Parks and Raul Gustavo to get more minutes until he returns.

Remains key starter in defense Trewin registered six clearancesand two interceptions in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus St. Louis City SC.

Impact Trewin has proven to be a huge signing for NYCFC, already making a difference on the defensive end of the pitch. He's recorded a total of 14 clearances with 11 interceptions and three blocks in six appearances, making five starts in that span. Trewin will remain a starter over Strahinha Tanasijevic and play alongside Thiago Martins for the time being.

Signs with NYCFC Trewin has transferred to New York City FC from A-League squad Melbourne City ahead of the 2026 MLS season, the team announced Tuesday.

Impact Trewin will get his first experience in North America, having already been part of a City Group team since 2024. He's capable of playing in both center-back and holding midfield positions, producing mainly via high numbers of accurate passes all around the pitch. He's expected to challenge either Thiago Martins and Strahinja Tanasijevic in defense or Aiden O'Neill in midfield.
