Impact Altidore missed two significant chunks of the season, being frozen out of the team during a contract dispute from mid-May to early July, and then undergoing a foot surgery in August that ruled him out for an additional two months. He still managed four goals in 16 MLS appearances (eight starts), but the 32-year-old will return in 2022 wanting to make a statement that he can still be an effective part of this team.

Out for six weeks after surgery Altidore (foot) underwent a successful surgery on Thursday and is expected to miss around six weeks, according to a Toronto FC press release.

Impact Altidore already missed two games with this foot injury before his surgery, and he is now expected to be out until at least late September. The veteran forward only has two goals in just 10 appearances (five starts) this year, so Toronto is equipped to handle his absence -- despite fellow forward Ayo Akinola's season-ending ACL injury as well. Patrick Mullins and Jacob Shaffelburg will likely get more playing time at forward, while the team might be leaning more on Alejandro Pozuelo to score the goals -- he has only scored once this season, but he tallied a combined 23 goals and 19 assists in the two years previous.
