Out for FA Cup Veltman is out for Wednesday's FA Cup clash with Wolves, according to manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Impact Veltman won't be an option in the FA Cup. This is a bit of a disappointment because Veltman has been a useful rotation option in Cup matches, and it's not sure what the issue is for Veltman either. The defender has appeared in two of the last three matches since coming back from a knee injury, so the worry will be that he aggravated the same issue once more.

Plays seven minutes against Spurs Veltman (knee) recorded seven minutes of play in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Tottenham.
Impact Veltman made his first appearance in six contests Saturday, bagging seven minutes of play as a substitute. Though the defender has served in more of a rotational role so far this season, his return is a huge addition to the squad, as he will be called upon more after the injury of Jack Hinshelwood (foot) leaves the Seagulls with no other options at right back. There is a chance he gets the start against Sheffield United on Saturday, as he will most likely split time starting at right-back with Tariq Lamptey in future contests.

Nearing return Veltman (knee) is nearing a return ahead of Saturday's clash with Crystal Palace, according to manager Roberto De Zerbi. "Joel Veltman is still out. But I don't know how many more...
Impact Veltman is making his way back from a knee injury and it appears he is recovering quickly. He won't be back for Saturday's match but it seems he could be an option as soon as a Feb. 10 trip to Spurs. Igor has seen consistent minutes in the starting XI with Veltman left sidelined.
FEBRUARY 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Still sidelined Monday Veltman (knee) remains unavailable heading into Monday's matchup with Wolverhampton. Manager Roberto De Zerbi told reporters, "Ansu Fati, Julio Enciso and Joel Veltman are all stil...
Impact Veltman has already been out of the squad for the club's last three outings and will now miss at least one more contest. The club hasn't provided a clear recovery timeline for the defender, so he should probably be considered out indefinitely at this point, at least until he returns to full training.
JANUARY 22, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Working on grass Veltman (knee) was spotted rehabbing on grass Thursday.
Impact Veltman continues to work his way back from a serious knee injury. The defender is still expected to miss another couple weeks but the fact he's back training on grass is a good sign. Veltman's first chance to return sould come against Wolves on Jan. 22
JANUARY 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Set for month out Veltman (knee) may not be an option for the club for the next month after going down with a leg injury in their last match against Arsenal, manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed. "Joe...
Impact Veltman looks to be heading for a spell on the sidelines, having been confirmed to be out for the next month by manager Roberto De Zerbi. This is an unfortunate loss for Brighton, as Veltman has been a consistent starter this season, earning 13 starts across all competitions this season, and is also adding to an already weakened backline due to injuries. Luckily, he will only miss three matches if he returns by his expected date, as the winter break will give the player an additional two weeks to recover. The club will hope he is fit by their Jan. 22 match against Wolves, but until then, expect Igor to take over the starting role in the middle of the defense, with James Milner moving out to the flank as a starter.

Knee injury confirmed Veltman (knee) is a doubt before the international break due to a knee injury, according to manager Roberto De Zerbi. "I think it is an important problem because he feels pain in h...
Impact Veltman could be set for multiple weeks on the sideline but there's no sort of guarantee on the timeline. The defender has been replaced by Jack Hinshelwood recently, so it's possible he continues in the starting XI. Veltman should have more specific timeline for his return ahead of a Thursday trip to Crystal Palace.
DECEMBER 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Limps off Sunday Veltman (leg) was forced off in the first half of Sunday's match against Arsenal.
Impact Veltman left the match in the 27th minute, limping off the pitch and being replaced by Jack Hinshelwood. Veltman's diagnosis should be available ahead of Thursday's trip to Crystal Palace.
DECEMBER 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Records three crosses Veltman registered three crosses (zero accurate) and one tackle in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Everton.
Impact Veltman registered another start at right back on Saturday, notching a minuscule one tackle, three clearances and three crosses. The 31-year-old had strung together a four-match streak in the starting lineup, but he seems to be filling in more of a rotational role again, starting in two of their last four matches. He should continue to see starting minutes but may see less with Pervis Estupinan returning to the squad soon.

Creates chance Veltman created one chance and made two tackles during Thursday's two-all draw with Marseille.
Impact Veltman has started five of his last six matches at right-back since taking over as the top option in the backline. The defender is likely to continue this role, though he is a far more defensive option than any sort of attacking threat. The right-back will hope to continue his strong defensive form heading into the international break.
OCTOBER 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Makes first start of season Veltman featured in the starting XI against Newcastle United on Saturday after having come off the bench in the first three matches.
Impact Veltman slotted into the right-back role ahead of James Milner for the first time this season. In his limited opportunities, Veltman has registered one shot (on target), two tackles (two won) and three clearances. While Milner likely has the inside track to continue serving as the primary left-back option, Veltman should still get periodic starts.
SEPTEMBER 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Pens two-year extension Veltman signed a two-year extension through the 2025-season, Brighton announced Monday.
Impact Veltman has become a crucial part of the Brighton backline and has been rewarded with a two-year contract extension. The center-back will likely head into the 2023-24 season right alongside Lewis Dunk in central defense once more.
JULY 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Another good season on defense Veltman scored one goal, recorded one assist and kept six clean sheets in 31 appearances (25 starts) this past season.
Impact Veltman had another good season at centerback this past season, as he recorded one goal and one assist, the exact same totals as his first two seasons at Brighton. While he had a good season defensively, he set his Brighton career lows in clean sheets, tackles, interceptions and clearances. He will likely remain the choice on defense next to Lewis Dunk next season, so another productive campaign could be in store for him.

Starting against Southampton Veltman is fit and in the starting XI for Sunday's match against Southampton.
Impact Veltman returns from a hamstring injury in time to make the starting XI on Sunday. Veltman starts at right back which pushes Moises Caicedo back into midfield.
MAY 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Available Sunday Veltman (hamstring) is available for Sunday's clash with Southampton, according to manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Impact Veltman was a doubt to return before the end of the season but has made it back with a match to spare. The defender could return for Sunday's match, though it's unlikely he's fit enough for a full return to the starting XI, likely keeping Pascal Gross at right-back.

Veltman expected to return for Brighton before end of season Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi expects to have Joel Veltman back to solve a right-back crisis for the last three match...

Season in doubt Veltman (hamstring) may not be able to return this season with manager Roberto De Zerbi telling reporters Friday, "I want to understand if Joel Veltman can play," per Richard Mills...
Impact Veltman is not expected to be ready to face Arsenal on Sunday but with the club having five matches left in the season, there remains the possibility he could be back in the squad at some point. In the meantime, Pascal Gross figures to continue serving as the right-back option, especially with Tariq Lamptey (knee) also unavailable.
MAY 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Will remain out Monday Veltman (hamstring) will remain out for Monday's match against Everton, according to manager Roberto De Zerbi via The Athletic.
Impact It's a confirm hamstring issue for Veltman, who has been in out and out of the squad the past couple weeks. Moises Caicedo played at right-back Thursday and may have to be there again if Pascal Gross isn't ready. It sounds like only a hamstring tweak for Veltman, so he should be back before the season is over.
MAY 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play Thursday Veltman (undisclosed) will miss out against Manchester United on Thursday.
Impact Veltman has started six of his last seven matches for the club, in which he recorded seven shots (two on target), seven crosses (two accurate) and 16 tackles (seven won). With Pascal Gross (undisclosed) also missing out, it appears the club may utilize a back three and shift the formation around.
MAY 4, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Exits with another issue Veltman was forced off in the 65th minute of Saturday's win against Wolves with a possible issue, according to manager Roberto De Zerbi. "I hope it will be a small problem."
Impact Veltman had been dealing with a minor issue in recent weeks and then getting his first start since April 15, it's not good to see him being forced off again Saturday. It's clear he's not completely healthy as the season winds down and there's a decent chance Pascal Gross will return to right-back for upcoming contests, Thursday's match against Manchester United at a minimum.
MAY 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Features in cup loss Veltman (undisclosed) subbed in and played the final hour of so (including extra time) of Sunday's defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup semifinals.
Impact Veltman had to come out in the first half of last weekend's win over Chelsea with an injury, but he was fit enough to appear off the bench and play almost an hour in the FA Cup on Sunday. He is likely to return to the starting XI at right-back for Wednesday's Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.
APRIL 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Comes off injured against Chelsea Veltman was subbed out of Saturday's clash against Chelsea in the 29th minute after suffering an injury.
Impact Veltman has started eight of Brighton's last nine Premier League matches mostly at right-back, but Julio Enciso had to replace him in the first half of Saturday's game due to injury.
APRIL 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Scores as substitute Veltman scored one goal from his only shot, sent in two inaccurate crosses and made one tackle (won) in 74 minutes during Saturday's 4-0 win over West Ham.
Impact Veltman subbed on for the injured Tariq Lamptey in the first half and scored in the 51st minute to give them the 2-0 lead. That was his first goal in the season, to go with one assist. The defender will now look to keep his spot if the starter is not cleared to play in their next games.
