Iago Aspas - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Set to miss four weeks Aspas has been confirmed to have suffered a grade I tear in the rectus femoris of his left thigh, with an estimated recovery period of around four weeks, according to the club.

Impact Aspas suffered the injury during the recent match against Malaga, with an MRI at Hospital Ribera Povisa in Vigo confirming the diagnosis, and has already begun his recovery treatment under the club's medical staff. This timeline now rules him out of the matches against Omonia, Racing Santander, Elche and likely Juventus as well, further disrupting a start to the season that had already seen him limited to one goal across six appearances, with Pablo Duran and Hugo Gonzalez likely to step into bigger roles in his absence.

Impact Aspas is still awaiting medical tests but looks set to miss the league and UEL games against Racing and Omonia, respectively. The veteran forward has struggled to see consistent playing time at the beginning of the campaign, and this issue would further hinder his form as he remains with one goal over six appearances. Elements like Pablo Duran and Hugo Gonzalez could step into greater roles while Aspas is sidelined.

SEPTEMBER 13 • ROTOWIRE

Suffers potential fiber tear Aspas is set for further testing on a potential fibrillar rupture in his thigh, according to his club.

Impact Aspas was only introduced to the field for the final six minutes of Sunday's match, but could be heading towards the sidelines after suffering an injury. Nothing has been confirmed thus far, but he is set for further testing due to a potential tear in his thigh. This would be a rough loss to the club as they lose a valuable veteran option in the attack, although he was set for more of a rotational role this campaign.

Impact Aspas got a goal after he was inserted into the starting lineup for this game, though it was muted because Celta Vigo collapsed in the second half. The extension goes beyond simply playing, with the club confirming that whenever Aspas does eventually step away from the pitch, he will move into the club's structure to continue contributing in a new capacity.
