Has surgery to repair fracture Puerta underwent surgery following a metacarpal fracture Sunday and will be out for a while, the club announced Monday.

Impact While Leverkusen didn't specify how long the Colombian midfielder will be out, the recovery process for this type of fracture hovers around six to eight weeks in a best-case scenario. The 20-year-old suffered the injury at the end of July during training camp, and he might not make his season debut until late September at the earliest.

Returning from loan Puerta will begin preseason later this summer back with Bayer Leverkusen following a six-month loan with FC Nuremberg, the club announced Tuesday.

Impact Puerta made zero appearances in the 2. Bundesliga since joining Nuremberg on-loan in January. The 19-year-old midfielder is returning to Leverkusen for now but it's still possible he moves elsewhere on another loan by the start of the next campaign.
