Announces retirement Pique announced on social media Thursday that Saturday's clash against Almeria will be the final home game of his career as he will retire from the sport afterwards.

Impact Pique has been a Barcelona mainstay for almost 15 years now, winning every trophy available to him for both club and country. But the 35-year-old suffered through an injury-riddled 2021/22 campaign and he's been used sparingly in this season, so it seemed like the end wasn't very far away and he has now confirmed that he will retire once La Liga play stops for the World Cup next week. Pique will likely start against Almeria Saturday at the Camp Nou while Ronald Araujo (thigh), Jules Kounde (thigh), Eric Garcia (groin), and Andreas Christensen (ankle) continue recovering from injuries.
