Contract negotiations ongoing Jungwirth's contract with the Whitecaps has run out but the club is still in talks about a potential new contract for the player.

Impact Jungwirth kept two clean sheets in 13 MLS appearances (10 starts) this season, but he's behind all of Tristan Blackmon, Ranko Veselinovic, Javain Brown and Jake Nerwinski in Vancouver's center-back depth chart. The 33-year-old would become a free agent if no new deal is agreed upon by Nov. 14.

Impact Jungwirth missed last weekend's win over the Dynamo while in the health and safety protocols but he should be back in the squad on Saturday. He has mostly been a backup option in the back-three or in midfield for the Whitecaps this season.

Impact Jungwirth had started 13 matches for San Jose, so the move is kind of surprising, but they got a decent amount of money for him. He's been a regular with the Earthquakes since 2017 and should immediately fight for minutes on the back line or in the midfield for the Whitecaps.

Taken off early in loss Jungwirth made two clearances in 40 minutes of Tuesday's 5-0 loss to Orlando City.

Impact Jungwirth had played the full 90 in all but one appearance prior to this game, but an early three-goal deficit saw him replaced by Cade Cowell in a tactical move. This doesn't exactly make sense with how bad the defense had played and to take off a defender (Jungwirth) for an attacker (Cowell), but it's all in the past now.
