Sent off against Colorado
Costa received a straight red card in the 62nd minute of Saturday's 4-1 victory against the Rapids. He took two shots and created two chances in the match before going off.
Costa was sent off after a violent foul on Michael Barrios on Saturday, his second red card of the season. He will be suspended for next weekend's Cali Classico, and possibly for longer if MLS deems it necessary.

Creates two chances in loss
Costa created two chances in Saturday's 4-2 defeat against Sporting KC.
Costa was mostly quiet aside from corner kicks and set pieces on Saturday, and he hasn't lasted more than 65 minutes in an MLS match since May. That being said, he has started the last three games in a row.
Quiet in loss
Costa logged two crosses (one accurate) in 63 minutes of Saturday's 1-0 loss to FC Dallas.
Costa has started in each of the last two matches but hasn't lasted past two-thirds in either contest. With 11 crosses in his last four appearances, Costa may have figured out how to be consistent in this team, but it's still be an underwhelming season for a once-talented winger.

First assist of the season
Costa had an assist while taking three shots (one on goal), crossing four times (two accurate) and creating two chances during Wednesday's 3-2 loss to San Jose.
Costa entered the match at halftime and set up Dejan Joveljic for the Galaxy's second goal in the 88th. The assist was the first of the season for the attacker as he finished with the second highest amount of crosses and chances created on the team in the loss.

LA Galaxy's Douglas Costa suspended for violent conduct | MLSSoccer.com
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued several decisions following Week 17 of the 2022 season.
Suspension extended by MLS
Costa's red card suspension has been extended for an additional game by the MLS Disciplinary Committee.
Costa received a straight red card after full time in last week's defeat against Minnesota United for elbowing Joseph Rosales in the head. He served one leg of his suspension against Montreal on Monday and he will now also be suspended for Friday's El Traffico match. Dejan Joveljic could continue up front alongside Chicharito in a 4-4-2 formation in Costa's absence.
Sent off after full-time
Costa was shown a straight red card after full time for throwing an elbow during Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Minnesota.
Costa completely lost his composure after full time, throwing an elbow directly at Joseph Rosales and being sent off immediately. It's disappointing for the winger who is just making his way back from a hamstring injury and will now be suspended at least one match. Costa will be out against Montreal on Monday, giving another start to Samuel Grandsir.
Makes bench Wednesday
Douglas Costa (hamstring) is on the bench for Wednesday's game against Minnesota United.
The Brazilian had missed two games in a row, but his presence on the bench should provide quite a boost for the Galaxy. Expect him to come off the bench if the Galaxy face adversity in the second half.
Should be available against Minnesota
Costa (hamstring) will be available for Wednesday's clash against Minnesota United, Galaxy manager Greg Vanney said Monday.
Costa was supposed to have made his return to the pitch during the Cali Classico last weekend, but that game was postponed until September. That gave him a few more days to recover so he's expected to be able to start on Wednesday.
Returns to training
Costa (hamstring) was back in training with Los Angeles this week and could be available for selection in Saturday's clash against the Earthquakes, Damian Calhoun of the Daily Bree...
Costa has missed the Galaxy's last two MLS games with a hamstring injury, but he could make his return in the Cali Classico on Saturday.
Out against Portland
Costa (hamstring) has been ruled out for Saturday's clash against the Timbers, LA manager Greg Vanney said Wednesday.
This will be the second game Costa has missed with this hamstring injury, and Vanney said that he is trying to give him a rest so that he can be fully fit for the Galaxy's upcoming stretch of games through July. In Costa's absence will likely see Samuel Grandsir, Victor Vazquez and Kevin Cabral line up from left to right behind Chicharito.
Doubtful against Austin
Costa is expected to miss Sunday's clash against Austin FC with a hamstring injury, Delmy Barillas of LA Sports Access reports.
Costa was not involved in Wednesday's win over LAFC in the U.S. Open Cup, and he will likely miss Sunday's MLS game as well with a hamstring injury. Kevin Cabral will likely return to the lineup in attacking midfield in his place for the game.
Eight crosses in tie
Costa delivered eight crosses and created two chances in Wednesday's 1-1 tie against Galaxy.
Costa had yet another solid performance displaying his strong playmaking ability against Minnesota. The veteran forward has shown another side of his offensive strengths by creating five chances and delivering 16 crosses in the past two games for Galaxy. With his first year in the MLS, Costa looks to bring his talent to a new team with expectations of elevating Galaxy's offensive play for the 2022 season.
Scores goal against Dallas
Costa scored a goal and created three chances in Saturday's 3-1 defeat against FC Dallas. He took three shots on target overall in the match.
Costa was arguably the Galaxy's best player on Saturday and he scored his second goal of the season from an excellent free kick routine. He will want to have a similar impact Wednesday against Minnesota United, which have conceded 12 times in 11 MLS matches.
Takes two shots in loss
Costa took two shots (one on target) in Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Real Salt Lake.
Costa lined up in attacking midfield Saturday and he was semi-dangerous during his hour on the pitch against RSL. He will likely return to the right wing next weekend against Austin FC, which have conceded eight goals in nine matches this season.
Takes three shots off bench
Costa subbed into Saturday's match against Nashville SC in the 58th minute and he took three shots in the 1-0 victory.
Costa was used as an impact substitute against Nashville on Saturday and his side came up with a late winner via Dejan Joveljic. Costa has started just one of the Galaxy's last four games since suffering a leg injury, but the veteran winger is still dangerous and will likely return to the XI soon.
Returns, plays 30 minutes
Costa (upper leg) played 30 minutes during a 2-1 win Saturday against the Los Angeles Football Club.
An upper leg injury forced Costa to sit out the Galaxy's previous MLS game. But by returning Saturday, fantasy managers should expect him both available and regularly starting again. Costa logged four consecutive starts before his recent bench appearance.
On bench Saturday
Costa (leg) is on the bench for Saturday's clash with LAFC.
Costa is on the bench for Saturday's clash with LAFC, after recovering from an upper leg injury. Costa missed about two weeks with the injury and isn't fit to return to the starting XI immediately.
Out against Timbers
Costa (upper leg) is not in the Galaxy's match day squad for Sunday's clash against Portland.
Costa suffered a leg injury just before the international window, and he's still not fit enough to feature on Sunday. Samuel Grandsir is replacing him on the right wing for the game.
Questionable against Portland
Costa is listed as questionable for Sunday's clash against the Timbers, Galaxy manager Greg Vanney confirmed Thursday.
Costa was subbed out at halftime of the defeat against Orlando City before the international window after suffering a leg injury. He's had a few weeks to recover but he is still a question mark heading into Sunday's game.
Scores first goal for Galaxy
Costa scored a goal, took two shots (one on goal) and created three scoring chances during Saturday's 3-2 loss to Seattle.
Costa has impressed through three matches with the Galaxy, and he was rewarded with his first goal of the season. He's scored one goal, taken seven shots (three on goal) and created 10 scoring chances in just three matches, making him a good option heading into Saturday's match against Orlando City.
