Impact Ochoa had an unfavorable matchup as the only shot on target he faced resulted in the decisive goal, leaving him no chance to produce in his first MLS appearance for LAFC. He was surprisingly promoted to the initial lineup due to Hugo Lloris' (arm) absence, with Thomas Hasal staying on the bench. Depending on how much longer Lloris is ruled out, Ochoa could get the nod a few more times in upcoming weeks.

Impact Ochoa did not seem comfortable in goal by allowing five goals, including an early hattrick to Brenner. He took over the goalkeeping role late in the season but was not at all impressive with 17 goals conceded in nine appearances. However, he did record a total of 32 saves and 10 clearances, including two clean sheets and a penalty save last match.

Ochoa has faced major volume since joining D.C and actually had two consecutive clean sheets before this loss, due to some brilliant play from the goalkeeper. There will be high variance here, heavy shots faced, but the talent to pull out some top-tier clean sheets such as his seven-save gem against Salt Lake last time out.

Impact Ochoa was acquired from Real Salt Lake in July, and this contest was his first MLS appearance in 2022 for either club. With regular starting keeper Bill Hamid sidelined with a hand injury, D.C. United manager Wayne Rooney turned to the third-string 21-year-old to provide a spark. He acquitted himself quite nicely, holding the MLS's highest scoring team to just one goal on a shot he had no chance stopping. It remains to be seen whether Ochoa has done enough to solidify the permanent backup role over Rafael Romo, but Tuesday was a step in the right direction.

Traded to D.C. Ochoa has joined D.C. United from Real Salt Lake in exchange for $75,000 in General Allocation Money, the club announced Friday.

Impact Ochoa kept six clean sheets in 28 MLS games last season and led an unfancied RSL team to an improbable run to the Western Conference Final in the playoffs. But the 21-year-old has been benched for the entire 2022 campaign as manager Pablo Mastroeni preferred Zac MacMath in goal, so Ochoa is now leaving for D.C. He will presumably take over from Rafael Romo as the new No. 1 for his new club, but he only has six months left on his contract and then he'll have to make a decision about what he wants in the future.
