Contract won't be extended Caligiuri will depart Augsburg following the conclusion of his contract at the end of the season, Augsburg announced Friday.

Impact Caligiuri is set to depart Augsburg following the end of the Bundesliga with the club making the choice not to extend his contract. The midfielder played a major part in each of the last two seasons but fell completely out of favor in the 2022/23 campaign. With just 13 appearance (two starts) it appears a split could be the best thing for both sides.

Impact Caligiuri played 28 matches and 33 matches in each of his first two seasons with Augsburg, but has fallen entirely out of the first team in the 2022/23 Bundesliga. The midfielder had strong upside when starting, with a role on set-pieces supporting his numbers, but evidently he has lost that role entirely. Mergim Berisha and Arne Maier have split those duties on set-pieces, leaving the 34-year old Caligiuri surplus to requirements.
