Hopeful to remain with team Ceballos (ankle) told reporters that his ankle "hurts, but he believes he can help the team during this tournament," according to Sergio Santos Chozas of AS.

Impact This is good news for Ceballos and a talented Spanish side which picked up multiple injuries in their opening match against Egypt on Thursday. By the next match against Australia, more should be disclosed about the status of Ceballos, and otherwise Jon Moncayola could be his replacement in the lineup.

Injures ankle against Egypt Ceballos exited late in the first half of Thursday's match against Egypt after getting a stomp on his ankle.

Impact Ceballos had immediate swelling on his ankle Thursday and doesn't seem likely to start Sunday's match. He dealt with a calf issue this past season and the hope is that this ankle injury doesn't keep him out the rest of the Olympics. Jon Moncayola replaced him in Thursday's game.

Leaving Arsenal Ceballos announced Tuesday that he's leaving Arsenal in the summer.

Impact Ceballos underwhelmed in two seasons for Arsenal by logging no more than three assists in a season and never starting more than 18 league matches. He'll now return to parent club Real Madrid and re-assess his options in search of a better situation.
