Set to join squad in coming weeks Talbi will not be part of Sunderland's traveling squad for the United States after advancing to the latter stages of the World Cup, the club announced.
Impact Talbi is instead expected to link up with his teammates later in the preseason schedule, missing out on friendlies against Liverpool, Leeds United and Wrexham. His delayed involvement reflects the club's approach of easing players back in following extended international tournaments. Talbi is expected to begin his individual training program before being fully reintegrated with the squad.
JULY 22 • ROTOWIRE
Earns start, plays 85 minutes Talbi generated two crosses (zero accurate) and one interception in Thursday's 2-0 loss to France.
Impact Talbi was entered into the starting XI on Thursday following the injury of Ismael Saibari, with the attacker playing on the left flank while Bilal El Khannouss started at forward. He would end the day not doing much, only recording an interception and two crosses. This was his lone start in five World Cup appearances, notching one assist on two chances created to go along with two shots in 176 minutes of play.
JULY 9 • ROTOWIRE
Assists and scores penalty to win Talbi assisted once to go with four crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Monday's 1-1 (4-3) penalty shootout victory against Netherlands.
Impact Talbi helped his side win the penalty shootout by scoring the third of his team's five spot kicks. The Sunderland winger also assisted Issa Diop in the final minutes of added time to put them into extra time. He has been a substitute on three occasions, and this is his first goal involvement in the tournament.
JUNE 30 • ROTOWIRE
Two shots Friday Talbi recorded two shots (zero on target) in Friday's 1-0 win over Scotland.
Impact Talbi would not see the field until late against Scotland, coming on with only six minutes left in regular time. However, he would still scratch out two shots, although neither was on target. These are his first chances at net of the World Cup, with 31 minutes of play registered in two games so far.
JUNE 19 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to bench Talbi (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's clash with Brazil.
Impact Talbi, as expected, is back available off the bench for Saturday's clash with Brazil. The forward is a depth option at the international level and isn't likely to play a big role at the World Cup barring injuries ahead of him in the team. Still in the heat and quick turn around of the World Cup, having all of the depth options available should be a boon for Morocco.
JUNE 13 • ROTOWIRE
Option to face Brazil Talbi (undisclosed) is an option for Saturday's match against Brazil, according to manager Mohamed Ouahbi, per Chaimae Bouaichi of Morocco World News. "Talbi is one of the options...
Impact Talbi was back in training and has further reinforced his availability for Saturday, as his manager deemed he was ready for action. This is a solid addition of depth from the bench for the club, giving them another attacking option to use later in the match. He did record four goals and an assist in 28 appearances with Sunderland this league campaign, so he has shown he has plenty of quality.
JUNE 12 • ROTOWIRE
Back in team training Talbi (undisclosed) has returned to training with the Morocco squad in recent days and should be an option for the World Cup opener against Brazil, the federation posted.
Impact Talbi had missed the friendly against Norway as the coaching staff managed his condition carefully, but his return to collective sessions is an encouraging development heading into the tournament. Coach Mohamed Ouahbi will assess his condition before making any final decisions on his role for the opening fixture against Brazil.
JUNE 12 • ROTOWIRE

Impact Talbi had been spotted in training last week, raising hopes of a swift return, but his continued absence from the matchday squad suggests the coaching staff are not yet ready to risk him ahead of the tournament. His World Cup participation is not believed to be in doubt at this stage and the coming days will be crucial in determining his availability for Morocco's opening fixture.
JUNE 8 • ROTOWIRE
Status remains unclear Talbi (undisclosed) was not included in the squad for the friendly against Madagascar but could return for the second preparatory match against Norway after being spotted in traini...
Impact Talbi has been a regular fixture in the lineup this season, starting 16 of his 28 league appearances and contributing four goals and one assist. His potential return for the Norway fixture would be a welcome development for the coaching staff, with his World Cup participation not believed to be in doubt at this stage.
JUNE 4 • ROTOWIRE
Won't be option Sunday Talbi (undisclosed) won't be an option for Sunday's game against Chelsea, according to manager Regis Le Bris. "Chemsdine Talbi will be sidelined."
Impact Talbi has started in 16 of his 28 league appearances this season, tallying four goals and one assist while also racking up 25 shots (10 on target) and 12 chances created. He's only scored two goals since the beginning of February while moving in and out of the starting lineup constantly, so his fantasy upside wasn't going to be very high even if available.
MAY 22 • ROTOWIRE
Whips in six crosses Talbi registered two shots (one on goal) and six crosses (one accurate) in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Wolverhampton.
Impact Talbi started and played the full 90 Saturday after he went unused last contest, with the attacker recording a decent two shots and six crosses. He has four goals and one assist in his first season with the club as the campaign comes close to an end, starting in 15 of his 26 appearances.

Scores equalizer Talbi scored one goal to go with four shots (two on goal), three crosses (zero accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Newcastle United.
Impact Talbi would get Sunderland back into the match just after halftime, as the attacker would find the back of the net in the 57th minute to equalize the match. This is his first goal in some time, with his last coming Feb. 2 against Burnley. It brings the attacker to four goals on the season, up to five goal contributions in his first Premier League season.

Scores Monday Talbi scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) and two chances created in Monday's 3-0 win versus Burnley.
Impact Talbi scored during Monday's clash, making the most of his only shot on goal and creating a pair of chances. It was a strong performance all around, and Talbi did well throughout the match. He could have had an assist or two with some better finishing around him, but still a dominant win with a goal and no shots allowed is an excellent performance for the entire team.

Impact Tabli has returned from AFCON after his runner-up campaign with Morocco, having joined Sunderland for training Thursday. He should not be deemed an option for his club, having missed around a month while on international duty. He started in nine of his 16 appearances before his absence, but was more of a bench option before AFCON, likely to return to that role in his first match back.

Impact Talbi was called by Morocco for the AFCON and will miss all the games until at least the clash against Everton on Jan. 10, although he could miss more games if Morocco perform well in the competition. The forward has been a regular starter for Sunderland this season, therefore his absence will force a change in the starting XI, with Brian Brobbey likely getting a larger role in the frontline while he is out.

Impact Talbi made the most of limited chances Wednesday, producing a beautiful finish to earn the point at Anfield. It was a special finish and one that embodied a perfect start to the season with Sunderland. Talbi won't expect to score a wondergoal every week, but it's still a nice boon in a tough match.
