Impact Starfelt is set for a significant spell on the sidelines after the injury forced him off in the 31st minute while on international duty with Sweden. The six-week timetable leaves Celta without one of their regular central defenders for several upcoming matches. Javi Rodriguez and Joel Lago could see increased opportunities in the backline during his absence, particularly with Sebastian Caceres also dealing with an injury.

Leaves Sweden camp Starfelt (hamstring) has left the Sweden squad, the Swedish federation announced Saturday. Coach Graham Potter said after the match, per Expressen that the injury did not look good...

Impact Starfelt will undergo assessment by Celta Vigo's medical team upon his return, as a hamstring issue of this nature threatens to sideline him for several weeks. The Swedish centre-back's potential absence leaves the club critically thin in central defense, particularly with Sebastian Caceres also departing early from Uruguay duty under an injury cloud. Celta may now be forced to turn to Javi Rodriguez and Joel Lago as emergency alternatives to plug the gap in the back line.

OCTOBER 3 • ROTOWIRE

Suffers apparent hamstring injury Starfelt was forced off in the 31st minute of Friday's Nations League match against Bosnia and Herzegovina with an apparent hamstring injury.

Impact Starfelt's status is unclear pending an assessment after he came off just past the half-hour with an apparent hamstring problem. The grade of the injury will only be established by a scan, and no timeframe can be set before then. He has two La Liga starts and one goal for Celta Vigo this season.

OCTOBER 2 • ROTOWIRE

Scores equalizer Starfelt scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) and one chance created in Monday's 1-1 draw versus Getafe. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 77th minute.

Impact Starfelt would save Celta from the loss Monday as he found the back of the net, with the defender notching a goal in the 57th minute to equalize the game. This gives the defender a rare goal, as he didn't see any in league play last season. He also added a clearance, two interceptions and three tackles in the defense.

SEPTEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE

Back for preseason Starfelt joined Celta Vigo's preseason training camp on Wednesday, the club announced.

Impact Starfelt had missed the final 12 matches of last season with a herniated disc, an issue for which surgery had been considered before he was ultimately able to avoid the operation. He made brief appearances at the World Cup with Sweden, including 89th minute involvement against Japan, though his limited playing time had raised questions about his full recovery heading into preseason. The defender addressed those concerns directly in a social media post, saying he was back and fully fit despite what he described as a complicated stretch balancing the Europa League run and the injury scare. Starfelt is expected to build toward full fitness as Celta Vigo's preseason continues.

Comes off bench Thursday Starfelt (back) took part in the final 26 minutes of Sweden's friendly against Greece on Thursday.

Impact Starfelt has left his issue behind as expected and will be an option for the World Cup. Still, he'll be in contention with Isak Hien and Eric Smith for playing time in central defense. If given meaningful opportunities, Starfelt may be able to contribute through passes and defensive stats, having posted more than six clearances in five of his last seven matches played for Celta Vigo in the Spanish first division.

Aims to be fit for World Cup Starfelt (back) will not be available for Saturday's season finale against Sevilla and will now focus entirely on being fit for the World Cup with Sweden this summer, according to...

Impact Starfelt ends the campaign with one goal, 30 tackles, 28 interceptions and an impressive 186 clearances across 39 appearances (27 starts) for Celta, having been one of the most defensively productive center-backs in La Liga before the herniated disc brought his season to a premature end. The Swedish international will be motivated to prove his fitness ahead of the tournament, with his recovery timeline making the World Cup a realistic target despite the back issue requiring careful management.

MAY 22 • ROTOWIRE

Herniated disc confirmed Starfelt is out for the time being due to a herniated disc, according to his club.

Impact Starfelt has been out for some time due to a back injury, and the exact reason has finally been figured out, with the defender suffering from a herniated disc. Unfortunately, with only a few matches left this season, it puts his season in jeopardy. He has been a regular starter, so this is a rough loss for the club, losing a defender with 19 starts this season.

MAY 1 • ROTOWIRE

Back issue keeps him sidelined Starfelt remains unavailable for the time being as he continues to manage his back injury, the club posted.

Impact Starfelt will now miss a fourth consecutive match with a back issue, and with no timeline provided for his return, Celta Vigo will need to continue managing without one of their regular defensive options. Joseph Aidoo, Javi Rodriguez, Marcos Alonso, Carlos Dominguez and Alvaro Nunez have been combining to fill the back three in his absence, and the club will monitor his progress carefully before making any decisions on his return to the matchday squad.

Impact Starfelt is still going to miss some more time as he deals with a back injury, as the club is set to head into UEL action without him. This marks a third straight game out for the defender, with the club not having a starter available. With Stareflt out, Joseph Aidoo, Javi Rodriguez, Marcos Alonso, Carlos Dominguez and Alvaro Nunez will combine to make a back three, as the club does see normal rotation.

APRIL 8 • ROTOWIRE

Left out of squad again Starfelt (undisclosed) was left out of the matchday squad for Sunday's clash against Valencia, the club posted.

Impact Starfelt has been dealing with muscular problems on and off in recent weeks, and despite logging 27 starts in 30 appearances across all competitions this season, the club is opting not to risk him again on Sunday. Joseph Aidoo and Carlos Dominguez are the most likely candidates to pick up extra minutes in the back-three during his absence. The club has not provided a timeline for his return, and his availability going forward will depend on how the muscular situation evolves over the coming days.

Impact Starfelt was likely given a breather in Sunday's clash against Alaves due to muscular fatigue, which makes sense given how heavy his workload has been for the Celeste this season after logging 27 starts in 30 appearances across all competitions. The center-back has now linked up with the Swedish national team and is expected to take on a solid role there as well.

MARCH 24 • ROTOWIRE

Not in squad Starleft (undisclosed) won't be an option for Sunday's clash against Alaves, the club posted.

Impact Starfelt was left out of the squad for Sunday's clash against Alaves because of an undisclosed issue after he was forced off at halftime in the last match against Lyon in the Europa League. The center-back will look to use the international break to get back on track and be available again for Celta in April. Until he is fully back up to speed, Carlos Dominguez is in line for a bigger role in the back three.

Impact Starfelt trained fully with the squad this week and is back in the mix for Friday's clash against Real Madrid after missing the last match against Girona with an undisclosed issue. The defender returning to full fitness is a boost for the Celeste since he is a regular starter in the back-three when available and is expected to slide right back into the starting XI against the Merengues.

MARCH 5 • ROTOWIRE

Ruled out Sunday Starfelt (undisclosed) is ruled out for Sunday's clash against Girona, the club posted.

Impact Starfelt is battling an undisclosed issue and will be sidelined for Sunday's showdown against Girona. The center-back is expected to be re-evaluated early next week to determine the full scope of the problem and whether it will cost him additional time. If he remains out, Joseph Aidoo and Javi Rodriguez are in line to log heavier minutes along the back line.

FEBRUARY 28 • ROTOWIRE

Clears illness Starfelt (illness) is back available for Sunday's clash against Getafe, the club posted.

Impact Starfelt missed Thursday's clash against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League due to a stomach bug but could clear it fully in time to be back available for Sunday's clash against Getafe. The defender has been an undisputed starter in the back-three under coach Claudio Giraldez and there is no doubt that he will regain that role moving forward for the Celeste.

JANUARY 31 • ROTOWIRE

Misses UEL game with stomach bug Starfelt was unable to play in Thursday's Europa League meeting with Red Star Belgrade due to gastroenteritis, according to the team.

Impact Starfelt will continue to work on regaining health ahead of the weekend's La Liga trip to Getafe. He would be a likely starter under normal conditions, but this issue could limit his playing time if it extends for more days. In that case, Yoel Lago might have a rare opportunity to feature in Celta's three-man back line.

JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE

Wins two tackles Starfelt registered two tackles (two won), four clearances and one interception in Sunday's 3-0 victory versus Rayo Vallecano.

Impact Starfekt had a solid day, winning two tackles with two aerials won with a block shot during the clean sheet win Sunday. Since opening the season injured, he's totaled 11 starts in 13 appearances, winning 10 tackles, making seven blocked shots and winning 18 aerials in La Liga.

JANUARY 18 • ROTOWIRE

Five clearances during win Starfelt generated two tackles (one won), five clearances and one interception in Monday's 1-0 victory versus Sevilla.

Impact Five ties Starfelt's lowest number of clearances across his last four appearances. Celta Vigo's team has logged four clean sheets across its last five games, and the only game Starfelt did not play was the one in which his team conceded a goal. In the four clean-sheet appearances, he logged 35 clearances, four interceptions, two blocks and one tackle won.

JANUARY 13 • ROTOWIRE

Makes five clearances in victory Starfelt recorded five clearances in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Athletic.

Impact Starfelt did a good job as the central member of a back three that stopped the Bilbao side's potent attack. He has made four consecutive starts across all competitions, helping his team to achieve a couple of clean sheets during that span. He's mainly reliable for passes and defensive stats in his current role, with high numbers of clearances standing out among his recent contributions.

DECEMBER 14, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Clears suspension Starfelt is no longer suspended and is an option moving forward for the club.

Impact Starfelt has served his suspension following his two yellows against Real Sociedad and is set to return in the next contest. The defender is an undisputed starter when available for the Celeste and is expected to return to the starting squad.

OCTOBER 27, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Two first half yellows Starfelt was sent off in the 45th minute of Sunday's 1-1 draw to Real Sociedad.

Impact Starfelt would see two first-half yellow cards Sunday, and that would lead to his exit, sent off just ahead of halftime. This will leave him suspended for the next match, missing out against Osasuna on Oct. 26 and returning against Levante on Nov. 2. He has started in their past three games, so this will force a change, with Carlos Dominguez as a likely replacement.

OCTOBER 19, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Scores own goal in draw Starfelt made three clearances and one interception but scored an own goal during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid.

Impact Starfelt made his first league start of the season but, unfortunately for him, he was mostly noticed for the own goal he scored to give the opposition the lead with just seven minutes into the game. The good news for the center-back is that he looks fully recovered from the physical issues that made him miss the start of the campaign and now he'll have an international break to get himself in even better shape.

OCTOBER 7, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Returns in Europa League Starfelt started and played the full 90 during Thursday's match with PAOK.

Impact Starfelt was fully cleared of an ankle injury pre-match, and that seems to have gone as expected. He played the full 90, moved well throughout and seemed to be fully fit. This was his second start of the season, as he missed the opening three matches due to injury and has been working to get back to full fitness.
