To become free agent Garcia will enter free agency at the end of the calendar year after he and the Dynamo agreed not to extend his contract, which expires this year.

Impact Garcia will end his nine-and-a-half year stint with Houston at the conclusion of the year, and the 37-year-old who played seemingly every single position during his time with the club finishes with the fourth-most appearances all time for the Dynamo, recording 16 goals and 33 assists along the way. Garcia led his team to a U.S. Open Cup triumph in 2018.

Called up to national team Garcia has been called up to the Honduran National Team for upcoming World Cup qualifiers set to take place on Sept. 2, 5 and 8.

Impact Garcia will likely join up with the national team after Saturday's MLS match against Minnesota. He will miss next week's clash against Portland, but he may return to Houston in time for the game against Austin FC on Sept. 11.
