Heads back to Alaves Rodriguez has returned to Alaves after his season-long loan at Real Zaragoza expired on June 30.

Impact Rodriguez spent last season on loan in Segunda Division with Zaragoza, making 16 appearances and conceding 24 goals. That represented his first real run of senior action, having previously been stuck as Alaves' third-choice goalkeeper, where he made just two La Liga appearances across parts of two seasons. With his loan now up, Rodriguez is back with Alaves for pre-season, though at 25 he's likely to find himself competing again for a spot in the pecking order behind the club's top options. Given his contract runs through 2027 and he still lacks regular senior minutes, another loan move before the window closes wouldn't be a surprise.

Impact Rodriguez was a key factor in helping Deportivo Alaves hold on to a 2-2 draw against Las Palmas. The Spanish keeper made four saves (all from inside of his own box), one diving save, and completed 13 long ball passes. It was Rodriguez's first full start of the La Liga season, so some nerves were to be expected. However, for the most part, he held his own. The international break will allow for some much needed preparation for when Alvaes face Rayo Vallecano on March 29.

Little has been released on the player since he went down, so it is still unsure when he will return, but he will hope it is soon and possibly against Atletico Madrid on April 21 in the club's next match. Once he does return, he will only hold a minor role, most likely only serving off the bench, as he is the club's third option in net and has yet to make an appearance this season.

Impact Rodriguez has been in the first-team squad 12 times this season but has yet to get onto the pitch for the club. At this point, Rodriguez won't require surgery but probably shouldn't be expected to see senior minutes any time during the 2023/24 campaign.

Signs extension Rodriguez has agreed to a three year contract extension with Alaves, keeping him with the team until 2027.

Impact Rodriguez is still waiting to make his La Liga debut with Alaves as he has been just a backup option for the keeper position for the team. He has, however, made 15 appearances with Alaves B this campaign, allowing 12 goals with seven clean sheets thus far.
