Two points, winning tally in SO Werenski scored a power-play goal, distributed an assist, fired six shots on net and recorded four blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Red Wings.
Impact Werenski played the hero in Tuesday's contest during multiple instances. He scored a power-play goal midway through the second period before providing the game-tying assist on Adam Fantilli's goal with just 17 seconds remaining in regulation. Werenski would then put away the winning tally of the shootout on Columbus' fifth attempt. Overall, the 28-year-old blueliner is up to 22 goals, 58 assists, 240 shots on net, 30 hits and 90 blocked shots across 71 games this season. Tuesday's contest helped him secure 80-plus points in each of the past two seasons. He'll likely be a candidate for this year's Norris Trophy and holds strong fantasy value for the remainder of the regular season.

Over his last nine games, the 28-year-old defenseman has been excellent with 12 points, 28 shots on net and seven blocked shots. He ranks among all defenseman with 77 points and ranks second on the Blue Jackets with 21 goals. Career year continues Werenski had three assists in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Rangers.
Impact One helper came with the man advantage, while the other two were at even strength. Werenski sits in second in NHL in scoring from the blue line (72 points in 61 games), and he continues to leads the NHL in points-per-game (1.18) by a defender. Werenski is on pace for an 88-point season, which would establish a new career mark. His best season came last year when he put up 82 points, including 23 goals, in 81 games.

Among league's top defenders Werenski tallied two assists in a 5-2 win over the Lightning on Tuesday.
Impact Both apples came on the power play. Werenski has three assists in his last two games; all three have come with the man advantage. The defender leads the Blue Jackets with 68 points (20 goals, 28 assists) in 57 games. He's second in the NHL in scoring from the blue line. But what makes his output this season is even more impressive is that Werenski started the season with just four points (one goals, three assists) in his first eight games. And his point-per-game production (1.19) is the NHL's best from the back end.

Pockets power-play helper Werenski notched a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-4 rating in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings.
Impact Werenski missed three games due to an illness, so it may take some time for him to regain his strength. He's still a big factor in the Blue Jackets' system, both on offense and defense, so he'll continue to see significant ice time. The defenseman has 66 points (16 on the power play), 200 shots on net, 73 blocks and a plus-3 rating through 56 appearances.
MARCH 10 • ROTOWIRE
Ready to play Saturday Werenski (Illness) will return to action against Utah on Saturday, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.
